What was also annoying....for how smart and savvy we're told Gloria is; for how "on top of her game"...she's completely blind to the enemies at her elbow. If she has such an untrusting nature [and these same enemies she works with have already proven they hate her & are out to ruin her]...why does she continually overlook their obvious suspicious behavior towards her, blaming herself for being "over sensitive" or "paranoid"? Nuh-uh...not for a gal with Russian Mafia on her trail...not for a street smart gal raised by a crack-ho. She'd see right through their ploy.
This second installment continues to loop around three events. 1) The secret Gloria is hiding from. 2) Her business 3) Jaime Zanders' unrelenting interest in her. The author continually rephrases and repeats these events, saying the same thing over again using different words. Tedious and tiresome. Eye rolling annoying and predictable.
I'm still giving this second installment 4★'s because.....even for all its drawbacks and negatives...I still found it entertaining and it DID hold my attention [even with its weak drama/suspense]... and I like how Ms. L'Amour uses perfect wording to suck me in. Ya gotta read the first installement Gloria's Secret (Gloria Book 1) in order to follow the series of events in this story.
Jaime Zander is your sexy leading man who is willing to do anything for the woman he loves. He is strong yet tender, sexy yet loving.
There are a few cliches and if you've read the first book in the series, the ending to the story in this second and final book is pretty much as expected, but getting another taste of the love and chemistry between Jamie and Gloria was worth it.
The story continues where the first left off but the constant insecure back and forth was annoying. The maturity level of this badass business woman really put me off. The characters are interesting and the villains certainly make the story move forward but, this was the end for me. I don't see how the next part of this story fits in and have no interest in finding out.
