I wouldn’t say that this book erased all my reservations on this trope, but Ms. Rai made the ménage arrangement of twin brothers sharing a woman work for me here without having to suspend my disbelief too far. Unlike many ménage romances that I’ve read, the relationship between Devi and her men isn’t portrayed without challenges such has the inability to be seen as a threesome publicly or how one’s family will react to such a non-traditional relationship.
We see considerable growth between these three characters, most with Devi and Marcus, as they come around to what their relationship can be long term. More than just the sexy nature of a menage, you feel the emotions between Devi, Jace and Marcus.
My biggest issue with the story would be how fast it all happened. From Devi agreeing to one night with the twins to ILYs in one week…that’s where I had to side-eye, just a bit. Then there’s the fact that the HFN ending left me wanting so much more. Overall though, a sweet, sexy, and richly emotional novel.
Alisha Rai is a story painter who touches all of our senses -- we can see the characters in their bold colors on this mental canvas. We hear the words spoken -- at times bold and dirty, with an urgency that speaks to desire. We can almost taste and smell the food that Chef Devi prepares with so much love. We feel every sensuous touch, whether it be from a lover or the movement of fabric. Each of these elements cocooning the reader into Devi's world. Seeing it through her eyes and feeling her strength.
Devi Malik is a stunning heroine, whose growth makes this story even more powerful. She is underestimated by everyone, except for Jace & Marcus, the two men who see her as the bold and sensuous lover she is. Watching Devi flush away her insecurities and find her voice, not to mention her strength is the very heart of Glutton for Pleasure. She was amazing.
The brothers Callahan? Oh, my goodness gracious -- you don't even have to choose a favorite, because they are each amazing in their own right. Sigh.
Enjoy this book -- it is a treasure!
But let's back up a step. Jace and Marcus... Well, Marcus flat out broke my heart and that was before we found out his story. Come to think of it, Jace did, too. Mostly because his easy brand of loving seemed ripe for a broken heart. He just...I don't know. He put his all into building the relationship between Devi, Marcus, and himself and you could see how easily it might come falling down around him as time went on.
Which would have been tragic because the three of them together were pure magic. PURE SEX-AY MAGIC.
Then there's Devi. I liked her. While I don't know if I could be as forgiving if my sisters meddled as much as hers did, I can respect that she was willing to forgive and forget. Also, now I'm super curious to see both Rana and Leena ending up with happily ever afters of their own. Because everyone deserves some sex-ay happiness. Even if there aren't two hunky brothers giving it to them.
Bottom line: Sex-ay with a side of sweet. And reading this made me hungry.
