"GNASH is an action-packed read that's as scary a nest of black widow spiders taking up residence in your bedroom. You never know when or where your next pants-pissing encounter with the terrifying bastards will show up. And you're afraid to close your eyes because you just know when you do, you'll surely be bitten." ~ The Bookie Monster
"Simply one of the best zombie novels I've ever read! It reads as kind of a mashup of Stephen King, Tom Clancy, and just a dash of Dan Brown." - Larry D. Murphy, host of Not Ready for Radio.
From the Author
I wrote GNASH over the course of about 2 1/2 years during a deployment to Iraq and at night after work at the Pentagon. Enjoy! --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

The only continuity issue is that SFC Owens is initially identified as 'a deeply religious Catholic man', but later on his dog tags identify him as a Baptist.
Otherwise, the story is internally consistent with good continuity, and it moves well and quickly. It's a genuine pleasure to read such a well-crafted work.
There's a lot more going on than just the Zombie Infestation; the author provides an occasional glimpse of the likely consequences of draconian, liberal-driven 'gun control' laws, almost as an aside. There's also a look at what the criminals and crazies get themselves up to when the rule of law breaks down - think 'Rodney King riots' and 'Hurricane Katrina' writ large.
The military stuff is accurate and well done without taking over, and the author considerately footnotes the less common military acronyms. He provides a brief look at British Squaddies in action, and he gives that the same attention to detail he give the US military material.
The main characters are clearly drawn and well developed, and a lot of the things you expect to happen don't always shake out that way. The minor characters are also given good treatment - they're not just some one-dimensional walk-on used as a plot device.
Frankly, this work hits everything I look for in Z-fiction and provides a few surprises as well.
I look forward to the author's next effort.

If you like ZA fiction, check out this book. I'm off to get Book 2.
The way Brian spins out the story makes it believable, horrifyingly so. His premise could happen. But the way he fleshes out the details and touches on the impact such an pandemic would have, reaches into your stomach and squeezes. Forget World War Z, if you want a zombie story laid out in a plausible manner with just the right touches to keep you up at night, Gnash is it. If you aren't just a little more paranoid about the state of the world after reading Gnash... read it again.
There are a couple rough spots but for a debut novel - it shines. I expect to see great things from Brian and I understand he's working on a second book at this moment. I look forward to seeing what else he comes up with.
If you're tired of the same old zombie story, or even if you aren't, try out Gnash. You won't be sorry.
