The first book revolves around a kid who finds a list of chores his mother has left to complete and decides to do them for her so she can sleep. He basically creates a bigger mess for her to clean up later without realising it. The second book has a small fluffy white dog living on top of a pile of rubbish at the dump. Eating garbage makes it thirsty so it intrudes on some birds in a nearby park using a bird bath, then chases some rabbits through the park and gets up to other stuff.
The little guy gets very concerned at the length and arduousness of all the things on the list that his mom has to achieve pre-bedtime. He's even worried that if she doesn't get to bed soon she may turn into a zombie. Oh my nooooo!
He takes it upon himself to help her out and lighten her load. He packs the lunches (nutrition not being one of his strengths), does the dishes (in a very untraditional way), the laundry is up next and then he baths the babies (plus the dog) altogether in a spray of bubbles in the tub. The list depleted, the chores finally done, he bestows the ultimate act of kindness on his beloved mom.
She graciously accepts his offer and grinning from ear to ear terminates her busy night.
A charming story about unconditional concern and love from a little boy's heart to his mother's weary one. I love the grace that his mother dispensed to her son as she accepted his heartwarming gifts of care towards her. I highly recommend this book.
The author, Mary Eakin, has written a fun, lovely book about a little boy and his mother. It was late, and the little boy was tired and realized it wS time to go to bed. He brushed his teeth, got into bed, and his mom read him a good night story and kissed him good night. He went to sleep. All if a sudden he was awakened by a noise, vroom, vroom, vroom. He got up and went to see what the noise was. He found his mom was vacuuming. He was very quiet, he did not want mom to know he was up. He tip tied around, and he found a list if things mom needed to do before she went to bed. Wash the dishes, bathe the babies, do the wash, pack the lunches, and finally wash the dog. Wow, that was a lot to do. When you read this book, you will, discover just what the little boy did, next.
Parents and other adults will enjoy reading this book to their children. All if them will realize just how much work mom dies everyday. It could be a good time to discuss how you might be able to help your mom. The illustrations are bright, vivid and colorful, and they depict all of the adventures of mom and the little boy. This is a wonderful book for children and adults to discuss how we can be helpful to each other.
