Prior to this app I was using Verizon's back-up assistant service to back up my phone. Frankly I did not trust it because when I upgraded my last smartphone some of my data did not restore. I am not talking about trivial stuff, but all of my text messages. This application solves that by allowing me to back my phone up to my PC or other storage.

This not only supports sync to PC (the feature I most use), but also to other phones and to the three cloud computing services that are currently supported by the app: Family Cloud Storage, Microsoft SkyDrive and Baidu, each of which has free plans for storage.

For me as soon as I start the service for PC sync I get a message telling me the ftp address of my phone. From that I go to my PC, start an ftp session and use Windows explorer to manage my files. To simplify things I created a network place using explorer and saved it so reconnecting is as simple as using explorer to manage my files. If 'ftp' and other terms I used above are foreign to you contact me or leave a comment and I can explain it. While it sounds complicated, it's simple. Basically if you can use Windows explorer you can use this app.

On my Galaxy Note II the phone's internal storage as well as my 64GB SD card show up and I have complete access to both. I can also access my WD My Book Live 2TB Personal Cloud Storage to back up my phone, so this is extremely useful to me for backing up my large external SD card as well as the internal memory of my phone.

One other thing about this app that impresses me is it appears to be bug free. I normally find at least one problem with software, but this application does everything it's supposed to do without flaws or anomalies.

man I have had a really tough time finding a android app that will let me transfer data files wirelessly via the external sd card.. all of them until now would not let me write to it.. this one does!! make sure your card is formatted to EXfat and your all set! directions are fairly easy.. there's a YouTube video that explains how to use it.. it's not as quick as using a direct USB connection.. and I would not try to drag and drop a lot of files at a time.. but it is quicker than the other wireless data programs I tried.. and it's FREE!!! I would have no issues sending a donation to these awesome programmers.. GREAT JOB!!!

My pc of choice is a Linux box (Ubuntu), and unlike a Windows OS there isn't an easy way to connect my PC to my Kindle Fire using usb. Some people have been able to connect their Linux box via a usb using a program called gMTP, but alias that program doesn't work for me no matter what I do. Hence this little application.

I have my own wireless network, and this application will set up an ftp interface between my Kindle Fire and my Linux PC through my internet browser. I use Firefox and have downloaded the FireFTP extension.

Using this app on my Kindle, adding the ip address on my browser, and using the FireFTP extension on my browser, I am able to set up a standard ftp GUI between the two devices and transfer files in either direction.

The negative is that the transfer is slow (about 1 mb/s), but it is much better than nothing, which is what I had.

The GUI is classic ftp, I remember the old internet days, so it does take me back a little. If you are unable to connect your Kindle Fire to your Linux box with a usb, this is a reasonable alternative.

After a few tries I figured how to get it in the address bar at the top of Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) I had to back down to the c drive and then entered the ftp #. Immediately my SD folder and others were available. Cable free data transfer if all devices are on the same network wifi. There are web based ways too, but I have no need for that at this time. Very pleased and much faster than waiting for device to be recognized after usb cable is plugged in. FTP the "other protocol"

I have an HP Slate Extreme Android tablet. HP support is terrible, so when I wanted to connect my tablet to my laptop with a USB cable, I couldn't get information on how to make data transfer possible. Software Data Cable enabled me to transfer files, photos, etc. between the 2 devices. I am only giving this app 4 of 5 stars because it is a little confusing, and like most apps, documentation isn't very good. Still, I tried a few apps, and this one did exactly what I wanted. I recommend it.

NEVER WAS ABLE TO USE THIS PROGRAM WHERE I COULD SEE ANY RESULTS. I DOWNLOADED THIS APP BECAUSE MY PC DOESN'T RECOGNIZE MY KINDLE FIRE USING ANY TECHNIQUES SUGGESTED ON THE WEB, THIS DIDN'T FIX MY PROBLEM EITHER

This works great for moving my files from my laptop to my Acer tablet. I used to have to remove the SD card because a USB connect just would not work correctly as it usually does with my Kindle. Saves me a lot of time and wear and tear on the tablets fragile SD slot. Follow the built in instructions about FTP and Windows Explorer and you're good to go.
