I purchased the light with the remote control, only to find that the light would turn off after about 2 hours of use. I contacted customer service, and they explained that the light with the remote automatically shuts off after 2 hours (this information isn't included in the user manual or anywhere on the product description on Amazon). The automatic shut off can't be disabled, either. This totally defeats the purpose of having it as a night light in my daughter's room. I do like the light, just not the auto-shut off feature or the fact that the automatic shut-off isn't explained anywhere. I will be returning and purchasing the light without the remote (customer service says that one has no automatic shut-off).

I intitally received the original design light when my baby was born to use as a night light for night time feedings. The original was the mostly same but did not have a remote, just the tapping feature. I loved it very much! Super cute, soft, great colors, love the charging and portability. Unfortunately the charger port broke on it after a year. So we ordered this new version to replace. We thought, awesome! A remote! Even easier to use, right? Except I hate it. In addition to the remote feature they have also added a battery saving feature. This causes the cat to turn off after about 2 hours. Which rendered it utterly useless to be used as a night light in the kids room. They wake up screaming 2 hours after I put them to bed because they are suddenly plunged Into darkness. So I think okay no big deal I'll just grab the remote and turn it on real quick. Except the remote is extremely cheaply made and doesn't work half the time. Or you have to be standing so close to it to get the remote to register that you might as well just go over and tap it anyway. So, needless to say, I will be returning this and buying another of the original more simple design.

This light is adorable. Love it. However it doesn't work by just tapping it. You either have to smack it so hard it flies across the table.....legit cat abuse. My cats looked pretty alarmed when I was trying to get this thing to work. OR you have to pick it up and and set it down firmly. Even then it only works 7/10 times. If it was cheaper, $5-8 I'd keep it because it is so adorable. But it's not, it's $15. So it's going back. If you're looking for a light that works reliably you'll probably need to get the remote...then it costs $20....**eye roll emoji** Can't comment on whether the remote actually works or not.

It's cute. It's cheap. It works as advertised.

The only design frustration is that the light can't sit upright while it's charging. since the cord fits into a port on the bottom of the light.. I see why they did it that way - adapting the base so the cord fits in while it's upright would make the base bigger and defeat the "soft, portable, cuddly" idea. If you want this for a kid who's going to sleep with it, it's not a problem.

We countered the issue by making a separate stand that lifts it up enough so we could thread the cord through and charge it on what amounts to a charging stand. Since we got it for a slightly different reason than the usual - it's a playful gift to an adult cat lover, rather than for a child, I don't count that as a serious issue. But it would make it harder to convince a child to put it where it belongs if every time it's charging it has to lie on its back.

Otherwise, it's exactly as advertised, and all around adorable.

A lot of trouble

I've waited a few weeks to leave a review, just to be sure how this holds up to daily (well, nightly) use. The light itself is cute, and it's nice that you can move it wherever your child likes, since there's no plug or cord. However, it only holds a charge for about two nights. After that, you will need to plug it into your USB port to recharge it, and it does take a while to recharge fully. Also, if you turn it on or switch from solid white light to colors by squeezing it, as you are supposed to, the base will pop out of the bottom of the cat. They are two separate parts, not glued together. That leaves you trying to fit the base back into the bottom of the cat. It's completely doable, but also frustrating and takes a few minutes. Most likely while you are trying to get your child in bed. So while this is a super cute night light and the white light mode is especially lovely, the product is also super labor-intensive. Not what I had hoped for in a night light. I already have enough to do in an average day!

Unlike many of the other reviews, I paid full price for this item and have since returned it.

Although the light does look very cute this is where the pros end.

Firstly, the static white light is bright, I mean light up the room and be able to read a book bright.
We used for one night and ended up putting it on the landing rather than in the room!
Although there are different colours, on static mode, you cannot use them.
The colours are dimmer than the bright white light, but the changing between colours isn't a nice fade, it's an abrupt change and not in the least bit relaxing. Unless of course discos are relaxing for you.

Finally be warned this light does not have a mains charger, only usb. So you will need to plug into computer to charge or use a phone charger
