A year later, and now I have bought the official GoPro brand of this Flex Jaw, just how did it perform? Well, I really put it to the test! I was doing a lawn maintenance routine on my lawn. I wanted to shoot a really cool action video of the dethatcher attachment, dethatching my lawn. So I clamped this jaw, to the lowest point of my tractor, where the cutting deck would have mounted to the tractor, just underneath the engine.
I used the adjustment strap, to secure it to a very narrow point, and that spring is so strong, that it was able to hold it there, against gravity mind you! It literally lasted the entire dethatching project, and it gave me super cool footage of the dethatching tines in action, yanking out the dead thatch and moss. The flex jaw never broke on me, and it did a great job!
Differences between the two you might ask, other then quality? Well, aside from the official GoPro version being of a higher build quality, the GoPro version has a rubber grip on the handle, the Sametop is just smooth plastic. Also the GoPro version has a shorter goose neck on it, where as the Sametop is about an inch longer. They both have the same strength in the spring though.
CONCLUSION: Sometimes it does pay to buy cheap, but not in this case. This is one of those times, where you truly do get what you pay for. If you want the quality version of this accessory mount, then you must buy the official GoPro brand. 5 out of 5 stars!
I will be using the mount to attach a Gopro to a truss light rail in a temporary manner. The gooseneck attachment allows me to quickly swivel the gopro to different sides of my dj gigs and wedding events. as I need in a 360 manner. It also allows me to extend the gopro to , creat different angled point of views. When I am moving or done for the night, I can simply unclip the jaws or detach the gooseneck with the quick clip insert.
I am thinking of purchasing the additional gooseneck that comes with the Jaws Clamp Mount. Attached this second Gooseneck to the Jaws mount gooseneck via daisychain allows me to further extend the camera in a variety of directions. Will see ln the future.
FYI the goose neck clamp has no instructions, took a few minutes to figure how to open the clamp. There is a strap, that comes with lt. l havent figured out if its for packaging only or there is uses for lt, no youtube review mentions lt.
It's very easy to flip camera around to face the other direction without moving the clamp.
I was very impressed with the strength of the clamp, as it has not slipped or been jarred loose yet. I am very excited to try the clamp on my boat to capture some fishing videos and will update then.
I have had the clamp for about 3 weeks and it has worked great so far!
Great concept, not sure if I got a dud but I have to say I'm not impressed.

It's great for clamping the gopro to static objects - doorframes, tables, street furniture - anything the jaws will clamp around. Once in place it will not move.
I have also used this on bike handlebars - again very steady but you do need to pack out the clamp slight to reduce vibration and noise (wrap some cloth around the bar first and it kills the vibration), The mount does provide some useful biking options as it allows for off bar mounting and mounting in different places very quickly.
The bendy is very flexible yet holds position very well, however bear in mind if it gets knocked or bumped into it will move. The flexi-arm can also be removed and the GoPro mounted directly to the clamp (you can also use the bendy arm with other mounts)
the postage was very quick which was nice.
The jaw is strong with grippy gums and an adjustable strap so you can clamp it onto a thin pole. The flexible neck is nice and sturdy, which stops your GoPro from getting knocked out of position.
I tested mine at work and filmed a few timelapses on a very windy morning and attached it to a mini digger, it gave me loads of mounting options and I got some pretty cool shots.
I intend on using it on a bike, car, tractor, shotgun ad fishing rod. I reckon it will be great!
I'd recommend this clamp to anyone with a GoPro who wants to do timelapse videos as it is very versatile. It will be handy for sports and vehicles but it might wobble if there's high impacts.
I might do another review once I've tested it on a few other activities and to see if the neck loosens up.
The clamp detaches from the flexible arm too so they can be used independently. Also you can attach the GoPro straight to the clamp if you wanted.
I'd highly recommend this.
The grip is vice like and you need a strong hand to squeeze it open. This, in turn, enables an extremely secure grip to whatever it is attached to.
It's one of the best accessories I have and I would highly recommend this and to avoid copycat versions which may not be as good quality. If you're attaching a GoPro worth several hundred pounds you want to have it as secure and safe as possible.
Versatile mount for many different situations. E.g. mounting on a guitar headstock, clamping to a tree branch or railings etc.
Very Strong clamp (versatile for many mounting possibilities) *when the item was first unpackaged - the jaws were "stuck" closed; this is likely due to clamping pressure after manufacture and post-packaging. It takes a while to open the jaws on first use.
Bad Points :
Price !!! OK - it's official GoPro merchandise... but still a little pricey.
Optional Neck - I was quite disappointed with this. I expected it to be more like the Joby GorillaPod Joints - but the neck feels cheaply made (light plastic) - is very stiff to bend into place, and creaks and groans more than I do (first thing in the morning!)
Grip like a vice keeping everything absolutely rock steady.
Used them on a recent cruise to get some timelapse sequences going in/out of port, and as you can see there is virtually no movement at all and this was over several hours in blustery conditions - [...]
I have got unofficial bits for GoPro and while they serve a purpose, this is the one I use for nearly every occasion when I need to know it's safe.
