So far I'm having serious doubts abut the HERO8. Good thing I bought it as a diving camera for underwater use - the audio capability of the camera is completely unreliable and the Media Mod doesn't do a single thing to fix it.
With GoPro shortening the lens, so that you can’t replace it (shame on GoPro for that) in order to use an ND filter, a clip needs to be used for the filters. Not a huge problem and there are a few companies that offer said filter clip.
However, you can not use the Mod and the ND filter at the same time. So if it’s sunny, your footage will all be over exposed unless you adjust the manual exposure settings, which lowers the quality of the video.
Sadly, this Mod will probably be going back as most of my filming is done outdoors.
A shame that this product costs $80 and has a flaw on a feature that is used as one of their major selling points for this unit. I will continue to use it with the front mic, but just want to warn you guys. If you already have the media mod, enable stereo and test it for yourself.

Unfortunately the alternatives are not great - the older USB C mic adapter costs almost as much as the media mod and it's cumbersome, but at least it's easy to swap out the battery.
So, the new features are great (and honestly I see no reason why they couldn't at least include a 3.5mm port on the body), but the design is one of the least user friendly that I have experienced in dealing with camera gear.
Not being able to remove the camera from the mod without unscrewing the mount is a pain when you need to change battery/memory card.
If I connect a HDMI monitor, I get an output about 50% of the time. when it does display, the gopro screen goes black and the monitor displays the touch controls.
I have NOT been able to get a HDMI monitor to display a live image from the GoPro, if I try, I just get 'no signal' on HDMI.
Add to this that there is no headphone jack so you have no idea what the audio is doing until after you record a video.
It does 'work', just not very well
A nice camera spoiled by a badly conceived, poorly engineered accessory.
