The main reason I'm returning and going with a competitor's product is the fixed rotation capabilities. You can only rotate the camera on 1 or 2 axes (you need to use an extra piece for the 2nd axis). So say you have the suction cup on the hood of your car pointing the camera forward. You can easily rotate the camera up & down (pitch axis). If you add the other piece you can easily roll the camera side-to-side to make it parallel to the ground (roll axis). HOWEVER, you cannot twist the camera left & right (yaw axis). So if you want it pointing perfectly straight ahead, you have to undo the suction and HOPE that you have it perfect and reapply the suction cup to the hood of the car. Repeat that over & over until you hopefully get it perfect.
A ball joint such as the Ram Mounts and the Fat Geckos allows you to twist & turn the camera however you like to easily get it pointed perfectly.
The suction mount is strong and you can rotate the assembly to allow for alignment...
It comes with no instructions at all, not even a picture... So you must figure out what goes best with what on your own... :/
Overall the product is ok. GoPro is not known for including any kind of comprehensive instructions, not even with their cameras. But, for me no instructions...no stars!!!
I would recommend this product..
First off, the suction cup works well. It is very similar to the mount I ended up selecting to use with my GoPro, and locks securely in place on any smooth, clean surface. If that is the extent of your requirements, this mount will make you happy at a reasonable price point.
Where this mount falls short is its adherence to the notion that folks only might want to adjust their shots in 90 degree increments. All of the GoPro extension arms use fixed elbows instead of ball joints, which can be just as secure. Since you can't rotate a suction cup after it is mounted, a ball joint extension arm would really do the trick here. Ultimately, I replaced this mount with one that offers that option and I couldn't be happier. I cannot imagine wrestling with this mount in some of the arrangements that my other suction mount handles with ease.
Overall, this mount beats basic ball joint style mounts on price and extension arm range (most of the basic ball joint mounts have very short arms), but a more complete ball joint mount kit satisfies a wider variety of scenarios.
This thing sucks harder than your mother, and when properly stuck to a clean, smooth surface has no problem holding on for dear life, even in some of the most challenging situations. I've had mine for a little less than a month but it has managed to hold onto a wrecking ball, a car going 85mph, and the side of a subway with little sweat.
It's ideal in every way to the cheaper competition, with one flaw that I simply cannot ignore; it loses grip over time.
I wouldn't expect it to stay suctioned onto a surface for days on end, but I find about 1 to 1.5 hours and it's loosened significantly from when it was first attached. After 1.5 hours to 2 hours it will detach on its own due to loss in suction. I have tested this at my home on a perfectly smooth piece of glass, and no matter the orientation it will fail on its own.
While having it hold strong for an hour or two is more than I would typically use my GoPro, it makes me nervous about tricky situations regarding time lapses and the like. Maybe I am expecting too much for a flexible chunk of plastic to hold on for dear life that long, but I would have like to seen it hold suction for at least 4 or 5 hours - after all the suction cup on my toothbrush holder doesn't lose grip even after weeks.
I love this product, and even despite it's flaw it's getting used like a rented mule, and when I do inevitably break it, I'll be right back here to buy another.

It lasted roughly 10 minutes of low speed track action before losing suction and falling off. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that it had fallen off and annoyingly it had positioned itself right into the driving line. This meant that when I returned on my next lap I hit my camera directly with my rear tyre causing it to kick up into a fence leaving a large chip in the lens and ultimately ruining the camera and mount.
Use a mount with 3m sticky pad if you're planning on using this on anything that isn't stationary or care about your camera
Tested on Bmw M3 - country route, 145mph and it did not budge or come off.
Also Pulled out a crownless dent from my other car.
really impressed. worth every penny.
Ive been really happy with it so far. It's held on to the windows through really cold weather as I take timelapse videos of the builders building our extension. Once it's on its not budging!
I was worried it wouldn't justify the cost of getting out all the way to Serbia, but I really wanted to try it out...and.. well... I am AMAZED. It holds in heavy rains and high temperatures on a drift car, for TWO DAYS !! I never thought it would hold up so well... but boy... I was wrong. Its really amazing.
I suggest you don't waste any money on another brand, go with the original one.
The suction mount came with more accessories than I though. It has two short mounts (quick and screw one) and an arm that extends the mount and turns it 90o. I haven't tested it on the outside, but will certainly do so.
In terms of security, I strongly recommend to get a metal cable and a carabiner to secure GoPro in the event of suction mount failure.
I used these:
My testing comes from very smooth surface mounts, mostly on car windscreens or external body work. Generally the suction and stability gives massive confidence that this mount will stick in most circumstances (though to be fair I've not done anything too extreme, like high speed racing).
This is one of the rare instances where I recommend the official product, even though it's quite expensive in comparison to similar mounts from other 3rd parties. Here I'm paying for assurances that it's been well tested under extreme circumstances.
However, every now and then it doesn't stick for some reason. You have to play around and after a few times it sticks. This damages confidence in it a bit, but overall its great.
As i opened the box with the content, i noticed that the carry bag didn't come with the product. The box was clearly opened, and the locking labels looked cheap. The product is fine, and it seems legit, but i really can't rate a seller better than 2 stars, that takes stuff out of the box and expect it's costumers to not notice a damn thing!
Shame on the seller!
Top Quality product! Will be making a video on my youtube channel!
