It couldn’t be any easier to fold up the net. All you do is pull out the pins at each corner, pull apart the center piece, fold down the top part and that’s it! To unfold the net, just do the opposite.

Surprisingly well made product

This arrived yesterday and my son was very excited to have me put it together.

I was surprised by the weight (heavy) and size (pretty small) of the box. It took me about 4 hours working by myself to put everything together including attaching the corner targets and shooter tutor. It wasn't necessarily difficult, but was time consuming. The longest part was threading the netting around the goal and side panels. The directions aren't great, but if you lay everything out ahead of time and follow the diagrams, it all makes sense. One other reviewer suggested using zip ties to hold the nets in place while attaching them to the frames. This was a helpful suggestion that I second.

For the price, the product seems to be extremely well made. The steel frame feels solid, the netting is thick, and the pieces fit together well. All in all, this appears to be a great value. I anticipate this will get a lot of use over the coming years.

Son loves it! The practice has really improved his game. He has scored every game since he started practicing with this net. He is motivated to practice (I think he like the picture of the goalie honestly). He was a good player, but about 4th on his team in goals. Now he is second at the end of the season. The gains have occurred since he started practicing with this net. We have it set up in the garage, so if he has a few minutes before school, or before he goes to bed, he goes out and stick handles and shoots.

Pros
*Large enough net to keep the puck from constantly slamming against our garage wall
*Pucks don't get lost in storage boxes, under shelving, etc.
*The hockey player tarp (I don't know what to call it), really helps in training. My son has improved tremendously now that he is working targeted zones of the goal.
*It fits in our small barely 2-car garage easily. We just pull out the car and he can practice.
*Goalie tarp is easy enough for my sone to take it completely or partially off, if he needs to. He is a young teen, but I would think any child over 10-11 could do this.

Cons:
*Difficult to put together. My husband spent about four-five hours.
*The left and right side net poles could use some reinforcement where they attach to the goal. They are steady during practice, but the unit isn't really meant to be moved. We are a little concerned that repeated pulling on the left or right supports will really weaken the connection to the goal. We move by holding onto the goal itself, rather than the sides. (this is why I took off one star)
*I would not leave it outside. It is still in excellent condition after a few months, but it is in the garage. I believe it would eventually rust outside.

Even with the cons, I would buy it again in a heartbeat. It has probably been the best gift we have given our son in a long time. He gets a lot of use out of it and really enjoys it.

UPDATE: A Christmas later... It is in super shape. Son still uses it daily. In fact he is practicing for an all-star game now. Great product, still helping my player train!

Assembly stinks & shipped with wrong parts

It's a good goal once you have it together, but pack a lunch when you go to put it together. The instructions are horrible and the time for assembly is ridiculous. The goal has plenty of guide loops, but the side nets only have them at the bottom. Sure once you've almost got the side nets done they'll form into place, but most of the wrapping you're just spinning it around the pole with it sliding everywhere. While I can give the length of the assembly a pass, I won't cut the factory any slack for sending the wrong bolts. The top part of the side nets should be attached with 8x75mm bolts. The bolts I got we're shorter. They look like the same bolts that were for the folding section of the main net. They're too short to go through the sides of the main net and then through the sides of the side nets. Sure I could have ran out to the local hardware store for more bolts, but I shouldn't have to. So, instead I took a ball peen hammer to the insides of the main net to cave them in so that the bolts were long enough to catch the butterfly nuts. You know, there's nothing more that I love than taking a hammer and denting in parts of a brand new net to make things work. Oh and the icing on the cake is cracking the red paint. This thing gets one star for at least being useful once it's assembled. I've seen the other reviews where the ropes disintegrate after three months. I plan on storing mine in the garage when not in use, so hopefully it lasts longer.

Buy some zip-ties to go with this and it's a great setup

This net setup is pretty sweet, however you should also order some heavy duty zip ties to keep it all together. The cheesy velcro straps come apart as you take hard shots on the net and goalie. Zip tie it together and this is a nice set. They should include 2 dozen zip ties... That said, it is great to have the barrier nets around the goal to keep the pucks (most) from flying off wherever. And the goalie screen is great to teach you where to shoot, otherwise kids tend to develop a habit of always shooting the puck right at the goalies chest. This helps you develop into a sniper.

We bought 2 of these over the years-one for driveway and now another for basement hockey practice set up. Outdoor one has lasted years without rust, netting still in great shape, withstanding intense slap shots from my hockey boys. Heavy duty/sturdy yet easy enough for my 9yo to move himself. Will blow over if strong enough winds so may need to anchor if next to something (like our wood fence) that it could damage. Big enough for effective shooting practice yet not too tall that it fit in our average height basement. The sides and top borders really stop the pucks well such that we haven’t had to worry about stray pucks hitting the walls of our finished basement. My boys love! Would highly recommend!!
