There is almost more tongue-in-cheek humour than one reader can stand... NOT! What a fantastic romp and play on words and people and happenings - and I do mean 'fantastic' in its purest sense - 'extravagantly fanciful; marvellous'.
Thank you Rik for providing your reader with the dilemma of which character to love most. After much deliberation, I think mine is Boris with his lofty view on the world (and marketing possibilities)... but it's extremely difficult to make a choice when you develop so many rich characters.
Well done Rik. You deserve every success - and more in the future... please!
I highly recommend this cute story for readers of all ages.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
In this version of the old favorite, Eric, the troll, is the protagonist. He's a bit of a grump and a hermit who likes his life just as it is. However, Eric's life as he knows it, eventually changes as the result of meeting Erica, the female troll (I am certain you can guess how). The personalities of the different animals throughout the book, especially Eric and Erica, are written with an engaging and humorous style. Each one of the animals has the type of human characteristics that children and adults can relate to. The human qualities of these animals, as well as the many adult references throughout the book, genuinely give the story a fun and refreshing twist.
This book had my attention from the beginning. The author has a wicked sense of humor and I couldn't help but laugh out loud while reading it. As an educator who reads a lot of kid books, I will enjoy introducing From Goats Gruff to Glory to my elementary students, teachers, and librarians. After reading this book, I believe that every elementary school library should have a copy sitting on the shelf right alongside the original favorite. I am especially glad to know that Eric's story does not end here, and it will be with great anticipation, that I look forward to reading more about his life and adventures in the near future.

When I first got this book, I wasn't sure about reading it as I thought it might be quite childish, but I'm glad I did as I loved it!
I really enjoyed it and thought it was very funny and loved seeing a different side to the billy goats gruff story by seeing the life of Eric the troll, and loving the amount of detail that has gone into the story.
My favourite part was when Eric was painting the spider spotty with Erica's lipstick, as. Thought it was very funny. My favourite character was Erica as I found it funny how she bossed Eric around.
I would recommend this book to my friends to read and think this would be a fab book to read at school. I'm looking forward to reading more of Eric's adventures in the future.
