Goblin Vinyl Record Review

This review is about the quality of this record, not the music. If you're looking to buy this on vinyl, you probably already like what you've heard from Tyler.

The overall packaging of this record is outstanding. The sleeve itself has more of a matte fabric feel to it instead of that a glossy photo feel that most modern records have. Instead of normal white sleeves, the records themselves are housed in sort of pouch-sleeve that has photography on it. Custom stickers are used for the grooves instead of having the record label. These records are pressed on 120 or 140 gram vinyls (I can't tell because it doesn't feel flimsy like a modern 120 gram) and contain the sound very well. The levels on this record sounded good to me as I did not notice any clipping or distortion in the music. Whoever mastered these discs knew what they were doing. Also, the LP comes with a download code for a digital version of the album, so you can't complain there. It is worth noting that XL Records created the vinyl release of this, and all other records I have purchased from them are of equal or greater quality.

Overall, I would say that this record is fantastic. The sleeve is beautiful, the insert sleeves have photography on them, the pictures in the gatefold have a cool photograph look to them, the music plays well and you can download a digital version for free. From a record collector's perspective, this whole package feels like a very well put together, and at the low price of $17 plus shipping, you can't go wrong with this release.

Sophomore release from HARD left field hip-hop artist, Tyler, The Creator, is GOOD!

GOBLIN. What can I say about this one? It's filthy. It's dirty. It's raunchy. It's hilarious! I'ts GOOD! IT'S NEW!

Tyler truly deserves his self proclaimed title of "The Creator", because he has created his OWN style of hip-hop. Alongside hip-hop super group Odd Future(which he "heads"), these "children" of hip-hop have taken the Earth by STORM! Whether you can feel them or not, they are here to stay, and they DESERVE their credit!

This album is innovative, provocative, nasty, funny, pioneering, and all in all pretty damn well done! The production is QUITE polished! The music is some GOOD STUFF! Tyler is truly a musician. His lyrical style and delivery are fresh, smart, and witty. One of the things I highly respect about Tyler is the fact that he does virtually little to NO sampling(a hip-hop staple, since its founding in '77)! He plays ALL of the music in this LP, except where noted.

I liked this album a lot. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the fact that, I feel, some songs(sort of like the 1st one) just seem to drag on and ON. Is this a "hip-hop classic"? I doubt it, but, and, we shall see. Is it worth your listen? HELL YEAH!

This album still makes me cry... by the last track you realize that you just bought an old school goth album hidden within a hiphop disc. Tyler, you sneaky bastard... thanks for existing. Hugs dude, hugs. This album is very touching, but also very egotistical... It is the soundtrack to almost every troubled teenager. It is a monster that cuddles it's way to your damned soul. Truly a SOGGY BOGGLIN. a mtha f'n goblin.........

Sides A and B skip very frequently. I contacted customer service and they sent me the entire album (fantastic customer service, I must add). But even the replacement had the same issue. However, I love the album as a whole.

this album is quite crazy, and hard to understand if you have no idea what he's talking about. i think its cool that he has different personalities in every song. i didn't pay attention to the lyrics at all on my first listen of this album but it took a couple listens to understand.

i'd say transylvania and tron cat are the weirdest but tron cats one of my favorites because just because once i realized what it was talking about it actually scared me. i would recommend you buying this but this is totally my opinion.
