The first miracle occurred in being able to untangle the ropes underwater to get Cody out of the water. CPR was administered even before reaching dockside where EMS gathered to Life Flight Cody to the pediatric intensive care unit, hooked up to every bit of life support equipment. While in a coma and fighting effects of lung damage, Cody's most intimidating obstacle was definite signs of irreversible bran damage due to lack of oxygen for such an extended period of time.
Cody's mother and family believed in nothing less than a miracle was possible for their son's complete recovery. ("The doctor's report was grim, but our trust was in the report of the Lord.") From the very beginning, none would compromise their stand of faith in God to restore Cody to full health, especially after Cody's mother and family implemented a powerful, faith-based plan of action.
To realize the severity of Cody's medical condition and to read about the subsequent, documented recovery is indeed nothing short of miraculous. 10 days after admittance into PICU, the ventilator/respirator was removed. On day 11, Cody talked for the first time and was moved from the intensive care unit to a private room. He stood on weakened legs the following day and on the 14th day, Cody had all tubes removed, walked, and was discharged from the hospital. The projected duration of care from a rehabilitation hospital was to be four to six weeks. Even at that, one doctor reported, "Less than one percent of patients that were in Cody's condition ever fully recover." Cody was discharged from the rehabilitation hospital after two weeks - 23 days from the date of the drowning experience. He was able to start first grade at school without missing a beat, right on schedule.
Written by Cody's mother, this book, documented with lots of pictures, is a testimony of the type of iron-clad faith that can surely move mountains and also of how "Faith-filled words dominate the laws of death."
