It was a most unlikely prediction. Perceived as a failure for much of his life, Churchill was the last person anyone would have expected to rise to national prominence as prime minister and influence the fate of the world during World War II. But Churchill persevered, on a mission to achieve his purpose. God and Churchill tells the remarkable story of how one man, armed with belief in his divine destiny, embarked on a course to save Christian civilization when Adolf Hitler and the forces of evil stood opposed. It traces the personal, political, and spiritual path of one of history’s greatest leaders and offers hope for our own violent and troubled times.
More than a spiritual biography, God and Churchill is also a deeply personal quest. Written by Jonathan Sandys (Churchill’s great-grandson) and former White House staffer Wallace Henley, God and Churchill explores Sandys’ intense search to discover his great-grandfather—and how it changed his own destiny forever.

Book Description
About the Author
Jonathan Sandys is a great-grandson of Britain's wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill and is an international author and public speaker. Since 2005, he has been communicating the morals, values, and leadership skills of his great-grandfather and those of the Greatest Generation to both young and old alike, in a vibrant and interactive way. Though born ten years after his illustrious relative's passing, he very much credits Churchill's legacy as a major positive influence in his life. As a result, he found the Never, Never, Never Give In attitude of Churchill made it possible for him to rise above the challenges of dyslexia and social isolation and achieve success. His life mission is to use both the experiences of his great-grandfather and his own to encourage and inspire people of all ages and walks of life to Never Surrender! Jonathan lives in Texas.
Ralph Lister is an actor, voice actor, and AudioFile Earphones Award-winning narrator. He spent fifteen years in London theater before moving to the United States to focus on film and television. There are times in history when it seems all hell breaks loose against God Himself. But for those who believe, we can always trust in the greater purposes of God. His purposes far surpass the tyranical power grabs of evil men like Hitler who want to be God.
Churchill’s authority came from submission to God’s principles. A nation’s government will always be a reflection of the people’s spiritual condition. And when evil rears it’s ugly head, it will be the test of a nation whether they ask for God’s help or whether they will compromise and be overtaken.
God uses men in the darkest moments of history , and Churchill was most definitely one of those men who would restore faith and carry on the purposes of God.
It is often said that Churchill was "not religious," even agnostic or atheistic. As this enjoyable title documents very well, Churchill WAS a man of faith who prayed at critical moments and often invoked the cause of "Christian civilization" in his speeches. (He actually meant Judeo-Christian civilization by this phrase.)
Churchill had little use for the formal structure of the church. He detested bureaucracy and pomposity and often found both in the hierarchical structure of both the church and the military. Hence, he was not a regular church goer as an adult. This, no doubt, accounts for the confusion as to his actual beliefs. He was very private in his faith, though no less a man of faith.
This work is of major historical significance. It thoughtfully clarifies an important aspect of the personal nature of one of history's most prominent and most complex figures.
BRAVO!
That said, I don't think I could go so far as to call Churchill a Christian. His political values were shaped by the Bible, but I'm not sure his personal values always were.
