I downloaded this CD because of a friends recommendation. It is as good of a CD I have listened to especially if you are a Civil War fan. I would HIGHLY recommend that you purchase the physical CD because it comes with a booklet that explains the songs origin.
These songs were written, for the most part, for this project.

Any lover of "roots" or "Americana" ..(shhhhh .....this is Bluegrass) must add this to their playlist. Brilliantly conceived songs executed by consummate professionals. Reminds of the wonderful "Down from the Mountains" project by Alison Krauss et al following the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" movie and soundtrack.

What a wonderful CD! I have listened to it over and over and still love every song!
God Didn't Choose Sides is simply beautiful and the lyrics are superb. What a wonderful way to learn about the history of the Civil War by listening to each of these songs written about true events. Thank you to the writers and performers for taking the time to make such a wonderful CD.

I'm a huge Civil War buff, so I was excited to hear some tracks off this album on SiriusXM radio. I knew that I had to order it. Every song is historically accurate, and it has made me want to research more of the events mentioned. This album is full of bluegrass all-stars, like Marty Raybon and Dale Ann Bradley, and every song on here is top-notch. If you like bluegrass, especially songs that tell a good story, you will love this album.

not bad however not near as good as I anticipated but that isn't a knock on this cd. I don't usually listen to cd's by multiple artists, however this is a nice change, mostly due to the subject matter. Also surprised there are so many songs from the 'northern' viewpoint, I find that unusual for War Between the States cd.

This is one of the best CD's I have ever bought. I'm majoring in History at Oklahoma State University and my main area of study is the Civil War. This CD is unique because it doesn't tell strictly about the battles; but rather it tells the story of the individuals who were in the battles and lived through this hell on earth. The title speaks for itself: God Didn't Choose Sides. Many might say he did because the union won but after hearing these songs you might think twice about that because can their be any winners when it is brother against brother and father against son. This war took the lives of 625,000 Confederate and Union soldiers and left another 2 million wounded. This CD proves that when it was all said and done it didn't matter because they were all Americans. This CD is a must own because the music is that good plus every song is based on true stories and actual people. It was worth every penny.

I heard Marty Rabon sing "God Didn't Choose Sides" on Fox and Friends TV show. I liked it so much, that I had to have that song. When I received the CD and played it, I was pleasantly surprised! All 13 songs were great! I have thoroughly enjoy this Civil War era CD!
