I was having difficulty trying to light the bonfire one night... Then I remembered that a lady from church gave me this book to read to my daughter. What a life saver! This thing burnt for a good 5 minutes and got that fire going strong! Great cover! Great paper quality! Great alternative to fire logs!

Doesn't tell the whole story

I read the book and was confused as to what the point was. I thought god made all of us? I was disappointed as well because it doesn't have anything relating to the rest of the bible as well.
For example, the bible says not to eat shellfish.... There are many more shellfish in the world to entice people into sinning. I mean more shellfish than gay people fornicating are being dipped in butter meaning Millions of people sin daily when they dip that succulent shellfish in butter.
The next problem is it doesn't mention how a woman who has been forced to have relations against her will was supposed to marry the guy that forced her to have relations with him.
The next problem is it doesn't mention that the bible forbids you to cut your hair! I haven't cut my hair in 30 years! I had my first haircut forced on me and my parents put it in a Baggie to save it! I left those sadist as soon as possible for forcing me to sin! My hair is now 32 feet long and I'm a true Christian! Millions of people sin everyday by cutting their hair. Even the guy off the 700 club has cut his hair to look presentable! He's a wolf in Sheep's clothing.
Speaking of clothing we are not allowed to wear clothes made of mixed fabrics! Did you know my first outfit was polyester! Once again as soon as I was able to crawl fast enough I ran away from home due to being forced to stray from the bible. I lived under a bridge until I could walk.

Old bigotry, new wrapper

Oh, how terribly sad. This is basically "Little Black Sambo" updated for use by today's parents to instill bigotry in their own children. Back then the kids were taught to buy into bogus stereotypes of black people...now this book is to teach them to buy into bogus stereotypes of gay people. As for the putative subject of the book (what makes a "real" marriage and a "real" family), it's worth noting that when "Little Black Sambo" was current, the US Supreme Court supported bans on interracial marriage because "Almighty God created the races white, black, yellow, malay and red, and He placed them on separate continents. And but for the interference with His arrangement there would be no cause for such marriages. The fact that He separated the races shows that He did not intend for the races to mix." That was exactly the view of a fair number of Christian churches at that time. And yet, take a look at the dad and mom in this book; they're an interracial couple. What's the message here, in context? God doesn't disapprove interracial marriage any more; he's too busy disapproving gays? Ugh. Leave it on the shelf.

Leviticus also says parents must stone to death kids who curse

I think a charming children's book could be made warning children of the other abominations in the Bible, so they can ask parents why Daddy didn't add on a marriage with Mommy's sister when her husband died as is ordered, or why Daddy doesn't have thousands of wives and concubines, or why Lot was willing to turn his two young daughters over to the raging mob demanding he give up the strangers/angels he was showing hospitality, and why then Lot's two daughters later got him drunk and had sex with him, or why Daddy plays with footballs when they're made of pig's skin, or why Mommy and Daddy eat shrimp, lobster, bacon, ribs and pork chops? They should be taught well on all the commandments, not just the ten, including how to treat slaves. They should be taught to insist their Daddy make Mommy go outside to live in a red tent a week of every month and not touch any of their furniture that week. Yes, this book is just the start of a whole series of Christian Bible stories to teach your children well.

Evil disguised as a childrens' book

How do you brainwash little kids to hate gays and lesbians? Here is an example written by a pair of fundamentalist Christians. Lots of cute pictures and simple text conveying a message of hate. Sure to be popular with closet case homosexuals who hate themselves or for those screwed up parents who fear that their children might be gay.

Great fairy tale!

A wonderful tale about an imaginary white magic man in the sky who wrote a book 2000 years ago. His book tells riveting stories about how he created the 6.5 billion year old earth and the whole universe--out of spit, dirt, and slight of hand. In his book, he stresses that black people are cursed, non-virgins should be stoned, polyester is very bad--and we should all love each other. Amber makes wonderful use of the cursed black man and allows him to marry a virginal white lady. The lovely couple acquire someone else's baby and raise him to imagine what two men might do if they love each other. Their lesson comes at a high price, though: If their son imagines such love, he will never meet the magic man in the sky. And if he loves such men, as the magic man has demanded, he still will never meet the magic man! Magic, mystery, love, and suspense! Your 5 year olds are going to love this book!

A helpful book. Gets its point over effectively. Obviously so much so ... that one person wrote 13 separate negative 1* reviews. As long as you are happy to spell "mom" instead of "mum" (the parent can easily translate this minor difference), I think you will find the message true, relevant and helpful for young lives in a confused world. Why not buy it and see for yourself. With 13 x 1* reviews my copy was pleasantly well priced :)
