The story is simple, easy to follow, and repetitive enough to help the younger ones grab on to the ideas in the book, but not so repetitive, as some childrens books tend to be, that the adult reading it wants to throw it across the room. Plus, it's a lot of fun to read, with plenty of opportunities to engage and interact with your kids while you read it, which at least for my children, is something that is very important in terms of re-readability.
Now, for the real test: how did my kids like it? Well, my middle child (4) is fascinated by anything dealing with stars and astronomy, so for her, this book immediately grabbed her to the point where even after I read it twice to them, she sat there thumbing through it for the next 20 minutes, which for a 4-year-old, is pretty much an eternity. It was my oldest (5) that asked for me to read it a second time almost immediately after finishing it the first time. As for my youngest (2), she just loves to be read to.
I'd definitely recommend this book, especially for younger children. It's the perfect length, lots of fun to read together, and again, the artwork is fanciful and cool.
