About the Author
Dr. Richard Saccone was born and raised near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He earned his academic degrees from Weber State University (B.S), Naval Postgraduate School (M.A.), University of Oklahoma (M.P.A.), and the University of Pittsburgh (Ph.D.). He spent a career as a counter intelligence and counter espionage officer in the USAF.
After retiring from the USAF, Saccone stayed in South Korea to work as a TV news anchor on an English language station, and took several jobs working in international business for Korean and American companies in Seoul and Central America before returning to the U.S. to finish his Ph.D. During this period, he was asked to represent an international organization in North Korea building nuclear power plants as part of the Agreed Framework negotiated under the Clinton Administration. As the only American living in North Korea at the time, he gained valuable diplomatic experience working and successfully negotiating with North Koreans, resulting in two books about that enigmatic country, including Negotiating with North Korea, and Living with the Enemy: Inside North Korea. He appeared on the Korean episode on the Popular PBS show Full Circle with celebrity Michael Palin. He also taught English at a number of Korean institutes in his spare time.

These were imperfect men who were racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, classist, slave owning and bigoted but they remembered the horrors of the Burning Times and the Inquisition which were still a living memory for many of the founding fathers and still occurring in some places in Europe. The horrors of those times having been caused entirely by radical Christians in their myopic zeal to force others under their boots. No good can come from a government informed and dictated to by a book of codified oral myths first made up by cavemen still sacrificing their first born to make sure the Sun would rise in the morning. A book by the way that has since been rewritten and rewritten and deliberately mistranslated by each tyrant that needed to justify the heinous acts they were about to perpetrate with scripture.
Your rights stop at the point they infringe upon another's rights. Allowing others to get "gay married" does not infringe on your rights any more than allowing blacks and whites to inter-marry did. Allowing others to decide whether an abortion is the best choice for them does not interfere with your right to not get one. Also there is absolutely no biblical evidence either for or against abortion in either the New Testament or the Old Testament nor was there any religious or spiritual prohibition in the earlier Hebrew tradition that Christianity grew out of. Allowing other faiths to build their communities and thrive does not infringe on your right to engage and worship with your own spiritual community. All of this push to manufacture the idea of a christian nation being besieged by sodomites and Muslims in order to justify wars of aggression in the Middle East and regressive destructive domestic policies is dangerous and short sighted in the extreme and must be opposed by all people of good conscious whatever their faith or lack thereof.
The Separation of Church and State must be rebuilt and strengthened and remain forever after inviolate. To install the Christian Taliban formally into power, or make believe that it ever was to the point of altering history books, will only ensure a surge of civil rights horrors like we have never seen and the fracturing of the Union. If you live where the clown of an author is running - please vote for his Democratic or Independent rival. If you live in an area where someone like this clown already sits in power or is thinking of running do whatever you can to prevent them getting elected. Get out the vote, canvas neighborhoods, volunteer for their rivals, offer rides and help to those the Republicans have deliberately tried to disenfranchise through unnecessary voter ID laws and diminishing polling places, etc.
Having done immense amount of my own research into this area, what I have to say about this work is not therefore based on something I feel is good. Yes I do feel that this book is good, but I feel this way solely because of the accuracy of the information presented. Like Robin-hood on the archer’s field, Saccone hits the mark bull’s eye first shot. This book is a refreshing review of how ubiquitous God really was within the everyday life of this nation, especially in public and governmental spheres. It is nice to see someone in government actually write something worth reading. If there ever were a time that we needed to be reminded of God’s influence on the birth of our nation and the subsequent years of walking with it, now couldn’t be any better of a time.
Today, many want to deny the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation and instead peddle the snake oil of a secular founding. They would like us to believe that our Founding Fathers were anything (e.g. atheist, desist, Unitarian, etc.) but Christian; whether in personal believe or simply by default operation. In other words, there are groups and forces out their rewriting history by removing the Christian beliefs and practices of those who forged this heaven for freedom—America. What Saccone does in this easy to read work is give you the loaded facts collated into singular volume. I highly recommend this book as a must! If you want to see America recover from the moral decay that has infested it, it is imperative that you as an American get educated on your own nation’s history and then open your mouth about it to friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. Richard Scaccone’s book will help you in this important endeavor. Because, ignorance isn’t bless and inaction is no better than being too lazy to change your skivvies after an unexpected bowel movement.
