I remember when I first saw Party Hard. Thought it was different but didn't pay too much attention.

For some reason his new videos showed up in my video feeds. The videos to me are very deep at least the way I interpret them. The songs are strong too. I bought this new disc and mind blown.

I am probably the only one that will think this but I compare this to The Who's Tommy. I hear elements that remind me of that.

There is so much action going on in this piece of music, if you don't hear it, you aren't truly listening. This is one of my favorite pieces of art and music right now. I can't get enough.

Andrew thank you for waking me up. Bravo.

Musically, this album is really good. It's very much what you'd expect if you liked I Get Wet, The Wolf, and You're Not Alone. Andrew W. K. is an amazing talent. The 3 star review is for the vinyl option itself. The record is missing songs. Three of them to be exact. I Made It, Not Anymore (which might be the albums best song), and the radio edit of Everybody Sins are not on the physical record. Not sure why, the Amazon download had all 12 tracks and nothing was labeled as 'bonus'. It sounds great and it does come with a pretty cool poster but, it's not the full album. I typically buy albums over CDs but if I had known this only had 9 of the songs on it I would have gone the CD route on this one.

I was excited to get the new Andrew WK album. I listened to the first two tracks and couldn't wait to hear the rest.

I was disappointed the majority of the other tracks either sounded like ballads, or songs from a Flash Gordon soundtrack. I really wanted to like this album too.

Surpris voir déçu à la première écoute, car très différent des 2 premiers albums, je me surprends à l'écouter souvent. Andrew WK nous délivre un album avec des ambiances et un feeling proche d'un Devin Townsend, il y a pire comme référence! Une belle métamorphose.

People keep going on about Andrew W.K having a return to form, but to be fair, he never really went away. He's a complex character and his music can be equally complex. Yes, if you're expecting the same as I Get Wet, which was released twenty years ago, you're not really going to get that. What you're going to get though is a solid rock album that whilst still sounds like Andrew mostly on the surface, has deeper more thoughtful lyrics. It's still about living your life to its fullest, but hey, you can't keep partying till you puke when you're in your 40s, not unless you want to die quickly. So obviously it's not going to be about that. Thematically, as with a few tracks on his last album , 'You're not Alone', there's quite a spiritual, heaven / hell thing going on. Andrew is a party god who has realised his mortality and whilst still urging you to be as party as ever, there is a greater emphasis on love being a part of your world. Everything that makes you and everyone around you happy is party, and that's a great message.

The album does rock very hard, but is more of a sister companion to You're Not Alone than to anything else Andrew W.K previously released. Expect loads of Jim Steinman / Meatloaf inspired drama and you won't be disappointed.

Pressing wise, the white coloured vinyl is very nice and sounds great, no issues there. The package is nice, great artwork and comes with a free poster enclosed in the gatefold sleeve. The only issue I had with buying the vinyl was missing out on the extra tracks I Made It and Not Any More, which close the CD version of the album. However, I can easily listen to these by streaming them and I may even invest in a copy of the CD too at some point when the price comes down.

If you're a fan of Andrew W.K and are willing to accept that he has grown as a musician (but is still as party as ever) since his debut, then you're in for a treat.

Von dem Titel "God is Partying" sollte man sich nicht auf die falsche Fährte locken lassen, denn mit dem simpel gestrickten Party-Metal des Debütalbums "I Get Wet" (2001) hat das neue Werk von Andrew W. K. wenig zu tun. Tatsächlich mag man kaum glauben, dass beide Alben von dem gleichen Künstler stammen, wenn man sie direkt miteinander vergleicht. Und wenn man einen Blick auf das Cover von "God of Partying" wirft, auf dem Andrew W. K. als Leiche posiert, ahnt man, dass der Albumtitel mit schwarzem Humor zu verstehen ist.

Wie klingt die Musik denn nun? Sie ist relativ düster, schwer, überraschend vielseitig und meist in gemäßigtem Tempo gehalten - also ganz anders als auf "I Get Wet", wie ich schon erwähnte. Zu harten Metal-Klängen gesellen sich ruhige Töne in Form von Power-Balladen und vor allem jede Menge Pomp, der ein bisschen an Meat Loaf erinnert. Dazu präsentiert sich Andrew W. K. als erstaunlich facettenreicher Sänger und fähiger Multiintrumentalist, denn er hat das Album komplett im Alleingang komponiert und aufgenommen. Einige der Songs sind richtig stark, etwa der Opener "Everybody Sins" und das darauffolgende "Babalon", allerdings hat sich auch der eine oder andere tendenziell verzichtbare Track eingeschlichen, zum Beispiel "I'm in Heaven". Insgesamt macht "God is Partying" jedoch eine gute Figur - und mir gefällt diese Richtung deutlich besser als die des Debüts. Well done, Mister Wilkes-Krier!
