Kratos is a father again. As mentor and protector to Atreus, a son determined to earn his respect, he is forced to deal with and control the rage that has long defined him while out in a very dangerous world with his son.

It is a new beginning for Kratos. Living as a man, outside the shadow of the gods, he seeks solitude in the unfamiliar lands of Norse mythology. With new purpose and his son Atreus at his side, Kratos must fight for survival as powerful forces threaten to disrupt the new life he has created.
Bold New Beginning
His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive… And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat, breathtaking scale, and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.
A Darker, More Elemental World
From the marble and columns of ornate Olympus to the gritty forests, mountains, and caves of Pre-Viking Norse lore, this is a distinctly new realm with its own pantheon of creatures, monsters, and gods. With an added emphasis on discovery and exploration, the world will draw players in to explore every inch of God of War’s breathtakingly threatening landscape—by far the largest in the franchise.
Vicious, Physical Combat
With an over the shoulder free camera that brings the player closer to the action than ever before, fights in God of War mirror the pantheon of Norse creatures Kratos will face: grand, gritty, and grueling. A new main weapon and new abilities retain the defining spirit of God of War while presenting a vision of violent conflict that forges new ground in the genre.

Anyways, the statue itself is worth it. Highly detailed, great size and weight to it so it doesn't feel or look cheap.
The lithogram, cloth map, and the 2 small statues are also very detailed. The lithogram itself has a great message from the almighty Cory Barlog who is the game director.
Lastly, it includes digital bonuses which will give a good start at the beginning of the game as well as a cool dynamic theme.
In short, this Collectors Edition is a mighty fine addition to my ever growing collection.
No regrets! Ok...back to playing for the rest of the weekend.
But what I want to talk about is the Collector's Edition package. I've bought many a collector's edition, including the ones for GOW III and GOW: Ascension, and in the past, the packages have been a bit lackluster. Well, as with the game itself, Santa Monica Studios really stepped up to the plate this time. A steelbook is basically a steelbook, so the only comment one can have is on the design. The design is tight. The in-game content is (sit down) ACTUALLY USEFUL. I have had several opportunities to replace the equipment that came with the set, but have not simply because the equipment I have is still superior to the new stuff. The lithograph is what one would expect in a high-quality image, and the map, printed on cloth rather than paper, is NICE. That's a piece that really deserves a decent showcase. The carvings are also nice. If you know anything about Norse mythology or ancient Icelandic culture, you will probably have an even greater appreciation for them than the next guy (Old Norse was my foreign language requirement in grad school, so I have a little bit of a background in it).
Which brings us to the centerpiece. The statue. GOW III gave us Pandora's Box, which was okay, and functional. Ascension gave us a tiny little cheapo statue that really only served to draw attention to Kratos' inhuman proportions, most notably his tiny li'l head. Clearly, SMS has learned from past mistakes. The statue is much bigger and features a much more realistically-proportioned Kratos as well as his son in an actual CONTEXT which could have been taken from the action of the game. The statue is of much better quality than the previous efforts, and features much better detailing and believable colors. Kratos looks like he has skin covered with a thin layer of ash as opposed to him being made out of grey plastic. The only problem--and it's a very minor one--is that the two parts of Atreus' arrow going through the Draugnr's head don't form a perfectly straight line. That's not a hill worth dying on. I have been known to take photos of gaming statues and make artwork from them. I will DEFINITELY be doing so with this statue!
Top international reviews
Following off the story of gow 3 and starting the journey of Kratos and he's son made for one of those most enjoyable stories in video games I have ever seen.
The collectors edition is excellent the statue alone makes it worthwhile however note the DLC codes will not work outside the US a bit disappointed as an Aussie buyer.
