God Is A Woman is a contemporary romance novel by Michael Tavon. Price Jones, a man who has been subject to abuse since he was young, only seems to be living for a sense of satisfaction. He thought maybe writing would help, so he tries to write but his writings get rejected too many times to count. He gives up on writing and instead finds a sense of satisfaction through alcohol and a series of one night stands. For a long time, he feels those are the only things that are keeping him going. Suddenly, an ex comes out of nowhere and she realizes just how alone Price feels. With her support, Price realizes that God truly is a woman- a woman who eventually helps him understand that he was born for a reason, and more importantly, that he is truly important in this world.
God Is A Woman is a powerful novel that will leave you feeling breathless. Price Jones is a character that every person can identify with at least once during their lifetime. I could especially relate to his struggles of writing. Although Price has a hard time believing in himself, as time moves forward it becomes very obvious that he is a valiant and kind-hearted man. He is a great character and I love that I was able to see him grow with the help of Iris. I also love the many themes of this book, some of which include addiction, love, lust, females vs. males and depression. These themes are tricky and can be tough to handle all in one story, but they are handled with grace and overall explore/question the rules of our society.
I really like this novel. It has many admirable qualities. Michael Tavon is a great writer and I was surprised by the end how much I grew to fall in love with the characters, especially Price. The pacing felt right most of the time but there were some slow parts here and there. The plot itself was well thought out and I appreciated all of the emotion that went into this story. I do think there were some grammatical errors that ultimately distracted me from the plot. Perhaps if there was more focus on the editing of this novel then I would have felt less distracted. However, I still think this is a great book and I do hope to see more of Price Jones in the future. I recommend this book to anyone who has struggled with alcoholism, struggled with their writing or has felt really alone. This book teaches you that it is okay to allow yourself to get help and makes you understand that you are never truly alone.
Depressed, stressed and mainly unimpressed, Price Jones sits sulking in his own failure.
This authors worst nightmare, not selling his books, came true.
All hope and happiness is lost, or so Price thought. Then he met the woman population.
As Price's childhood was full of abuse from his father and his mother constantly turning to addiction, his life is anything but a fairytale.
As Price finds himself falling in and out of love and relationships, his loyalty to himself is the only safe place he has left.
Read Michael Tavon's God is a Woman and find out the real reason behind Price's miserable life.
God is a Woman is love, hardship and finding yourself.
I found myself laughing, tearing up and connecting to the main character a lot thought the novel.
The power of love is strong and will find you in your darkest of times.
"I always believed a woman could rule the world and it was nice to finally meet one who believed it too."
As I read, I wish more would have been discussed about his past. As he is sexually and physically abused by his mother's boyfriend, Price forgave him after a 'I'm sorry' was exchanged. I found this very unrealistic and wish more research about the after effects of sexual/physical abuse would be looked into.
Also, I wish the main character would have been more sympathetic when his mother died. Price praises woman throughout the novel yet when his mother dies of an overdose it is discussed in the chapter a few times when everyone finds out...and that's it. I just wish it would have felt more real to me.
There was some great comic relief after some intense dialogue and situations which released my mind more to get involved with the novel.
I truly believe the novel would have been a 5 for me if the key characters were more elaborated on and we learned more about Prices' ex-girlfriend earlier in the novel.
The ending had me in tears and I was pleased with how everything came together.
Thank you to Michael Tavon for sending me a copy to read.
