I think that is the intention of these books & this series, to take these big, lofty "spiritual," subjects and just present it in laymans terms to enlighten us to the most powerful and useful parts of it. Visually, alone, it's enriching. It's seems the older I get, the more I appreciate a book with photos.
The quality of the book itself, esp. for a paperback is excellent. I've seen many these books in used bookstores, and even when old in copyright, date published, they are still in fine condition, so I think they may be of high quality and wear well, a kind of thicker stock.
Being a painter I care about the color quality of an image and these don't seem to have those old cheesy colors and are very sophisticated with there choice of the quality of ink. Well worth this low price in my opinion. Apart from that, I love the images of the goddess, so warm, earthy, personal and universal at the same time.
The author skips around a lot drawing bits from the history and mythology of several cultures during many eras. From this she pieces together an unsupported construct, using only those facts which relate to her theory and ignoring all the rest.
I would encourage anyone interested in the history of goddess mythology to learn more, just not with this book. It is a sad misrepresentation.
For those who wish to again be embraced by their feminine nature, this is a book that I highly recommend. A must read.
