In the old days teaching a young child about many gods might have been a No-No. However in this day and age I doubt that it makes any difference to parents who are monotheistic--if any still exist.

Approximately at 5th grade reading level. It's detailed, well written and colourfully illustrated.
Una pequeña maravilla. Cierto que el papel podría ser de un gramaje superior, pero este detalle ni por asomo le resta puntos. Disfrutable al máximo.
The stories are well written, simple and to the point (it is for kids after all), but with quite a lot of depth in there. You can see that they were written by someone that knows and loves Egyptian history and mythology.
As with all mythologies at times they can be confusing and strange (like some divinities are siblings and also married, sometimes even son and husband), but that's mythology for you. They're not supposed to be normal humans, and I'm glad the writer didn't rewrite those "weird" bits.
And by the way, I didn't buy the book for kids, and bought it for myself, and I love it :)
Also the vocabulary used here is not for kids; try to explain the child what is "coconspirators" for example.
Coco-what?
There was a fiction short story attempts a few time in the book but then as if the author did not know how to go about it, she hectically switched to non-fiction style of listing random facts. Very disappointing and even frustrating.
Another disappointment big time is that the author did not think what effect some information might have on a child's mind. The Hathor's chapter, for example, opens with a Hathor getting ready for her wedding to Horus. The opening is written in fiction style but before the wedding ceremony begins the story ends abruptly with some complicated geographical detail that none cared about at this point and immediately goes into driest tone form of listing facts on the goddess....one of which states that Hathor breastfed Horus when he was a child. My daughter was in a state of a shock which followed by disgusts, "so Hathor was Horus' mommy?" How do you get this image off the child's head if you just read it aloud to her, unknowingly! How do you undo the damage now?! One might think the children writer would filter her content for the audience but no, there was no effort. Why ruin a seemingly romantic wedding story for a little girl ???
