About the Author

Justin D. Herd is a purveyor of the weird and strange. He occasionally squawks at friends and family, but does so only under the cover of night. Okay, that's not true. He squawks in full daylight. Drinking games have been built around his peculiarities, but the truth of it is this: he has two wonderful dem--children. One growls at things he likes, including pretty women. The other has started to learn hand-eye coordination. Neither had made it to the tender age of three. From there, things will only get more interesting. He spends most of his writing time either at a coffee shop or sitting at one of his many desks around his house. Any other place makes it nearly impossible for him to write. He uses horror movies and rock music to help get the juices flowing. His favorite authors are Jeremy Robert Johnson, Alan Campbell, Terry Pratchett, Justin Cronin, and Patrick Rothfuss. He consumes most of his books through audiobooks, but still loves his personal library and getting lost in the printed word.

Of Gods and Madness is the first book by Justin D. Herd I read and I have to say I really liked it.
The book has a very interesting story. We have Raine he works as the right had for a mob family. When he makes a horrible mistake everything changes.
We see his journey to get revenge and fix his mistakes he also has to deal with the mob crumbling. But not only that Gods decide they want him and we see how the fight to get him on their side.
I won't say much about the but is definitely a good read and will continue reading more books by Herd.
I give this book 5 starts!!!!!!

It all begins with a terrible mistake.

Raine it's a powerful character, so powerful that even the Gods want him, in this story, we are introduced into a violent and corrupt world, our Hero its a blend of Corleone and Constantine, he walks in between of good and evil, he is a men with a mission, Revenge.
Of Gods and Madness by Justin D. Herd it's a wonderful book, excellent written, the plot is flawless, fast paced, page-turner, with complex characters and great dialogues.
Absolutely recommended for readers and fans of Science Fiction & Fantasy.

I got this in exchange of a fair review. Raine Morgan is quite a man: ruthless, efficient and … kind. In the process of hunting down the miscreants who had attempted to mess with the mob’s bottom line. The story did start out that say, and soon Raine realizes after cleaning up the mess, that there are more to clean up.

The first half or so of the book focused on Raine’s mob links and his job, and a mysterious girl name Marise Shield. It was not until later in the book her appearance made more impact. But she seemed like a strong character with a past.

It took me a while to warm up to it, because I am not familiar with the Na Creidmhigh and its gods. At times I struggled to catch up with the times, with many cryptic messages through out the book.

When Raine was in transition to become a God, all hell breaks looks between the Faithfuls, each trying to recruit Raine into their side. When in comes down to war, even the Gods can die.

It was an amazing journey following Raine and Marise in the streets and into the temple where layers and layers of plot and hidden agenda waited to surface. At times it gets dark and violent, so if you are into that kind of book, this one might be up your alley.
