The heroine is a twin with a mother that is in deep depression and a father that has no idea how to handle the wife or his bipolar daughter. So the heroine sets herself up to be the bipolar twin's whipping boy. Every time she goes off her meds and goes downhill the heroine makes it her life's work to let her own life go to heck and pander to her sister. I don't suppose at any time she realizes that she is just fostering bad behavior and allowing the sister to do just as she pleases knowing that her sister will jump in to save her. Why she felt she was responsible for her sister and the parents had no responsibilities is beyond me. I didn't have a lot of sympathy for her in this regard.
There is a lot of drama as the hero tries to get over his being betrayed by every female that meant something to him. Then the heroine has to deal with the sister's criminal act against HER boss, jeopardizing her job and her love life and absolutely no regards to what she was doing to her sister. She was a lot more forgiving than I would have been and I just looked at her as a doormat that allowed her family to walk all over her with no regard for her or her life. I think this probably happens more in life than is fair.
It is a good story, it sheds a lot of information on bipolar, ADHD, etc. and how it effects the person and the family. I would have liked for Julian/Jay to have been found dead of an overdose! But all in all it was a good story and I would definitely recommend it. I will admit I have liked other books by this author a lot more than this one. My problem with the heroine probably effected my thoughts on this story.
I was not paid for my review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
... the first 'inappropriate' kiss happens immediately after the 'boss' confessed to having been accused quite seriously, of date rape (while in his apartment, sitting almost cuddled up together on her second, or third? day as his PA). She then enthusiastically reciprocates his following advances. I was cringing. The author could not have chosen a more inappropriate timing for it! I almost stopped reading at that point. When the twin sister announces that she's about to date a new man - who is clearly going to be the boss's nemesis - I finally decided that there was no point in reading on. Sorry. DNF

This a story about Kaden and Lexi. Kaden is a billionaire and Lexi is his P.A... but the attraction runs deeper than that.
First of all I just want to say this book is HOT! If you like sexy scenes this will not disappoint you.
Secondly I want to say how impressed that this story featured taboo subjects such as mental health and glade rape accusations - always good to raise awareness for both.
I have never read a book by this author before,& enjoyed her style of writing and found it effortless and descriptive- I really was able to feel the connection between the two main characters. I am looking forward to reading more from Carly Phillips in the future.
She starts a new job as Kaden Barnes’s PA. They don’t deny their attraction to each other. In fact, they do acknowledge it and that is really refreshing to read. Usually they tend to avoid the issue until the inevitable happens which is that they end up in bed together. It doesn’t change the fact that Kaden is annoying and has a list of demands a mile long but he can’t deny that Lexie makes him feel more than he wants to.
This book also touches upon Kaden’s bipolar issues. Carly doesn’t shy away from the true issues of a real life situation which is why this book is so relatable and real. I love that they showed Kaden struggle with everything. He doesn’t like things being out of his control but he slowly gets that Lexie means more to him than he actually realised.
I can’t stress how much I just fell for these two. They stole my heart and flaws and all; they suit each other perfectly. It was a short book and I would have loved more but I can’t complain because the story was just pure genius.
