The only woman Lucas ever loved and wanted was someone that was off limits, his sister-in-law Maxie Sullivan. When the woman turned to him for help, he couldn't say no.
Maxie Sullivan found herself in trouble and the only man she thought to turn to was her best friend, Lucas Monroe. She'd always been in loved with him but never told him.
She went on to marry his brother only to regret it the moment it happened, Maxie was left a widow after she suffered a great loss. She thought her late husband took care of things but he left her on debts with no means to pay them off.
Maxie lost her job because of all the wrong deeds, her late husband had done. Lucas was glad to help her out but as spend more and more time together, old feelings and new ones started to resurface.
Liked the growing friendship between Lexie and Maxie. It was great to see that Kendall (Lexie's twin sister) was doing better. Lucas and his best friends were more like brothers than he ever been with his late brother.
When Lucas found out the he!! Maxie wenf through during the years she was married to his brother, let's just say that it was a good thing that the man was already dead. Even beyond the grave he was causing trouble for Lucas and Maxie.
In the end their love was stronger than anything thay life through at them, Maxie and Lucas finally got their heart desires and more.
GOING DOWN FAST was enchanting. It's the second installment in Carly Phillips' BILLIONAIRE BAD BOYS series. Looking forward to Derek's story next. Fabulous job by Carly Phillips.
Maxie and Lucas have a long history together. They have been friends since they were children and always had a thing for each other but for various reasons they never acted on their attraction. Soon, life got in the way and Lucas went one way and Maxie the other. Keith who is Lucas' brother saw his opportunity and ended up married to Maxie, only to make her miserable. Lucas stayed a friend to Maxie and was there for her when Keith wasn't. But, through a twist of fate Maxie ends up a widow and destitute, so she goes to the only man who has always been there for her, Lucas. Talk about complicated...whew! Things are not all roses and sunshine when the past keeps coming back to haunt Maxie and Lucas.
This was an intriguing story. I enjoy it when characters who were always meant to be together finally find a way to be together. I think the only thing that kept me from loving this story is that I feel it started in the middle and left a lot out. Some parts were too slow and others rushed, I felt it was not a complete and cohesive story. All in all I did enjoy this book, but I feel like I only got half a story.
Maxie and Lucas had been childhood friends...each with felling for the other that went beyond friendship yet neither ever vocalizing them. As they grew older and moved on with their lives Lucas had bulked up and was no longer the skinny geeky boy he once was and was now a majorly successful billionaire with his 2 friends. While Maxie finds herself married...to Lucas' brother :-O. No matter what, Lucas is always there for Maxie when she needs him and after suffering through a tragedy Maxie realize that those old feeling she thought were buried deep are rising back to the surface. Can they fight the building attraction between them? Do they want to fight it? Or do they want to give in and see what the future hold?
This is an excellent addition to anyone's library and has so many twists and turns that you won't be able to put the book down until the story is over! And man oh man what an ending!!
