This book should be required reading for all teachers, parents, physicians and nurses. But especially should it be REQUIRED READING for all federal and state legislators and judges. Until you digest the well documented facts, from highly respected and vetted medical journals and researchers, of today's marijuana's HORRIFFIC side effects and addictive potential, and turn off the marijuana industry's propaganda to the contrary, you will just be "blowing smoke" to claim it is other than what it is, a Schedule 1 Narcotic / Controlled substance, defined as the class with the most addictive potential, and with the least recognized and approved medical uses. Marijuana is in the same class as LSD, Heroin, Ecstasy, and Peyote. BAD COMPANY, INDEED. This classification has not changed in decades. FOR GOOD REASON! BUY THE BOOK. READ IT. SPEAK UP. LEST THE NEXT GENERATION TRULY GOES TO POT, and some would say...... on to hell in a hand basket.

Excellent book by former Drug czar William Bennett. He lays out the facts about the effect of Marijuana on individuals and society as a whole. He really emphasizes on the effects of weed on adolescents and its not good. The weed nowadays is much more powerful with higher THC content than what it was from the 60’s-70’s 80’s. He also counters popular arguments for the legalization of weed. It doesn’t matter , when big money and corporations are involved (political influence) as they are now,get ready for the worst.

An honest book about an issue that many Americans consider an non-issue. At a time when the majority of Americans believe marijuana should be legal, Bennett presents the scientific facts about pot. He also points out the expensive cannabis experiments in the Netherlands (where pot is tolerated) and in Colorado (where it is legal). It is time for a wake up call about this unsafe substance.

FINALLY, a riveting book which thoroughly addresses every argument with a wealth of research! It was interesting and had a lot of common sense. At the end of the day, it's about the impact marijuana has on our young people. They have no business smoking marijuana when their brains are most vulnerable to permanent damage. This book was well worth the money. I think we've all heard the arguments and OPINIONS FOR legalization. If you're looking for a well-rounded and educational argument which addresses the medicinal benefits as well as the biological and societal consequences -THIS IS THE BOOK! I now understand how marijuana can be helpful to people who suffer from AIDS, Cancer, or Glaucoma -who TRULY NEED IT! I understand how the THC levels are higher than back in the 60's, etc. which is causing a higher chance of getting high and how the THC levels are not regulated which has caused lots of people who don't need it for medical reasons to abuse it for recreational reasons for the high. It's especially sad that young people are adopting this same attitude as reasons why they use it or don't see anything wrong with using it. This book opened up my eyes to get an understanding of both sides of the argument and has reinforced why I will not advocate legalization of marijuana for recreational use and if used for medical purposes the THC levels must be regulated. Much thanks to the Authors for sharing their passion in a society where it's not popular to speak up against legalization of marijuana.
