This album is surprisingly playful and addicting. The songs are infectious and absolutely heartfelt. If you're looking for the sweet & tender acoustic guitars heard on their LP "Where Satellites Fall" you won't find them here. But you won't be disappointed by this album, either. The same exquisite vocal harmonies that exist on their LP are also heard here. This album sounds like they got some money from their "Requiem on Water" (from the Twilight Saga) and their LP, and decided to use that money to electrify their sound. I'll admit that I missed those tender acoustics from the LP when I first listened to this album, but I don't any longer. This album quickly grew on me and within a week I couldn't live without it! These songs are adventurous and their energy is contagious. The slow songs, like "Light Up My Life" and "Slow Dance Me Away from Here" bring back some of the sweetness of their earlier work, which is much appreciated. But the bouncier songs, like "You Wake Me Up," "This Life," and "The Last One to Leave the Party," still manage to highlight their excellent singing and music structuring, while also being extremely dance-able. My particular favourite song, "Maybe," feels like you're skipping on the moon.
I highly recommend this album to everyone looking to have fun and to truly feel. Best place to listen to it: in the car.
