Enter Hadley, Cats best friend from college. She’s a little quiet and shy. She wants to be a chef. To own her own bakery one day. She keeps her eye on the prize and her head down. Except for school, work and trying to keep an eye on her free spirited somewhat self centered mom and little sister Hadley doesn’t have time for dating, sex or fun.
When she decides to go to the wedding of her best friend Cat in Charlotte...Hadley decides it’s now or never to step outside her comfort zone and live a little. When Blake sees Hadley at his sisters wedding he can’t take his eyes off of her and after a few too many drinks Hadley and Blake spend an night together that neither of them will forget.
Blake can’t forget because he connects with Hadley more than he wants to admit and before he can talk to her more or explore it further he wakes up and finds her gone.
Hadley can’t forget because Blake is everything she dreamed he would be. But because of her inexperience and her drunken behavior she feels she’s made a fool out of herself in front of this man who rocked her world....and she ran out on him. Oh...and now she’s pregnant. So...there’s that too.
When Hadley confides in Cat about her night with her brother, about her fears of humiliation in front of Blake and her pregnancy, Cat takes it upon her self to ask Hadley to move to Charlotte to become the head chef of the hotel restaurant bar that her husband Zane now owns. Hadley reluctantly agrees. Knowing she needs the help, the moral support and the job. Which is also a dream opportunity for a person who’s fresh from culinary school.
As you might guess Blake is shocked she’s there. Angry she left and now she’s there...and Hadley hoping to find a way to break the news of their baby and possibly start a new life hits a wall when she has to face Blake’s active social life up close and personal.
This story was great and does have a happy ending after a few twists and wrong turns. In the end its characters find out what’s most important.
The only con in this story if there is one and that’s it does leave you wondering what’s going to happen with Hunter, the third man in the Whiskey series. But that’s the next story...and now.... I wait.

I Love Love Loved this story! There is some sweet times in this book. I loved that Blake was all in! I mean of course not right off the bat but dang he impressed me. He started being a jerk and a womanizer but in the end...i forgave him because that man has a way with words. Dang! Hadley definitely had a struggle on her hands. I really felt for her at times because Blake WAS such a jerk. The suffering was worth it in the end. She is so strong and she impressed me as well. I am loving the writing in this story! It seems to flow so easily and pulls me into the characters lives. Each of the characters is wonderful in their own right. Hadley and Blake have a wonderful story and each brought their own craziness to the relationship. Cat and Zane are fun to read. I don’t know their story but now I want to read it! They are great friends and even better family. Hunter makes me wonder what is going to happen to him. I feel sorry yet wonder how much of this he brought on himself.
The respective families of Hadley and Blake were great and added some FUN to the story. I don’t want to forget to mention the zany neighbors of Cat and Zane along with the coworkers at the restaurant. They are all a little nutty but in the good way. Again smiling and laughing while reading. Great secondary character really help make books and this author did an outstanding job.
This is a first time author for me and since I throughly enjoyed the writing and the characters so much I will be looking for other books to read. (Starting the Cat and Zane’s story) This one is going to be a reread and go on my favorites shelf! I also love the title and was curious about it. I got my answer in the book and I loved it! This story brought a smile to my face numerous times and I couldn’t be happier that I picked it to read! Great job!

The story Gold Digger: A Whisky's Novel by RB Hilliard is a romantic comedy. It is the wonderful story of Blake Moreno and Hadley Jacobs. They are two characters that I loved reading about and I wanted them to find their HEA together. Blake Moreno is a man that doesn’t do relationships. He has always walked the other way when a woman wants to get serious. That was before Hadley. Hadley is a woman who loves to cook. She has her future planned out. That was before Blake. This couple has an intense attraction to one another and can’t stop thinking about each other. They also can’t stay away from each other. Hadley sees Blake as a man that charms any woman that he meets and would not be true to just one. At times there are misunderstandings and jumping to conclusions. Even so, they are still falling hard for each other. Their relationship is very steamy. Will they both find happiness and their HEA together? This is a story that is well written and easy to read. It is also a book that had me smiling and laughing. The interactions between both Blake and Hadley as well as their interactions with the other characters in the book are very humorous. It is the first book I have read by the author and it will not be the last. I look forward to reading more of her stories.
