Appear to be great socks for my small son

I needed some black dress socks to go with some of my small son's more formal clothes (for occasions like violin concerts that he performs in). Gold Toe is a major brand that has been around for decades and they are good at making black cotton dress socks for a reasonable price. These socks look great and fit my son very well. Perhaps the only thing I would like to see changed is for the socks to come up closer to the calf. But that is a small nitpick. Usually with socks, it is all about the durability. For now I am giving the socks 4 stars but if they last my son several months, I will come back and add on the last star. I would recommend these to other parents and am happy so far.

Thin smooth fabric. Almost act like velcro

I really liked the feel of these socks for my boy. And he really appreciated they helped his dress shoes fit that had become too tight when wearing cotton socks. They work well enough, but the fabric is so fine it can become problematic. When my boy ran outside with them on, it was extremely tough to remove the dried bits of grass clinging to them. And when I wash them, any light colored lint automatically velcros itself to the fabric. A couple times when I've had rough hands from working outside, thy would cling to my hands surprisingly tenaciously. Honestly, they are good socks, seem to be holding up, and perhaps deserve a 4th star, but the fabric is just not right for black socks when after a few washings they tenaciously hold to every bit of dander they encounter as if velcro.

To clarify the 3-star review, they’re nice socks, really. Just so long as your dear son takes them off the minute he gets home from church. For real boys who get distracted between the car and the front door by something fascinating outside, these might not be the socks for you. They’re basically navy blue Velcro that every particle of grass in your yard will stick to. And trying to get it out...?! Yeah, still trying. But otherwise, right out of the package, they were soft and fit correctly. Just order these after giving your son’s temperament a loving, yet honest, assessment!

You would think that a brand known for socks would make a good sock. Not the case with these! These dress socks were not manufactured with elementary aged boys in mind. They are falling apart (holes/runs) and cling to everything-- playground mulch, dirt, lint, other clothes in the dryer. Purchased these as uniform socks for my son and was completely unable to use them after the first wear. Little boys can be rough on things... yes gold toe even dress socks, come on.

I chose these socks were somewhat large as our 7 year old son is at the lower end of wearing these socks. His shoe size is a 3 in dress shoes and a 3.5 in gym shoes. I ended up purchasing the next size down, which he is at the top end of the size chart, and they are perfect. I do not mind and will hold on to both packages as these socks are the perfect feel and color black. They did not fade or shrink after washing them.

Waste of money, thin as panty hose, not Gold Toe

I thought these were Gold Toe quality dress socks. When I got them they are almost as thin as panty hose. I pulled the tag off and one pair ripped. I washed the remaining two pairs and they were so covered in static lint and folded up, they were almost worthless. I held them next to my son's other Gold Toe socks we bought from the store and the difference is substantial. They seem very uncomfortable, thin, and will not last. I threw them away and will be buying some from the store, they looked and felt so bad, even my husband agreed that they were garbage.

This last set of Gold Toe socks kind of let me down. I guess not all Gold Toe socks are created equal because these were thinner, the tops did stop stay up and the ankles frayed after not too long of use under dress shoes. This happened with multiple pairs, too. I have moved on to another type of sock that is much better now. I attached a photo for reference.

Worst socks ever

Worst socks ever! Couldn’t even wear once because I washed them in the washing machine with other clothes first. It becomes garbage after being washed. They attract all the fibers from other clothes and the shape of the socks is gone. Maybe it can only be hand washed. But this is the worst thing I have ever bought.
