I can ignore the pace a relationship progresses at as long as the romance is worthy of it. I couldn't ignore it here; it's too fast and it's not deep enough. Two days does not work as a time frame for a romance, even in a novella. Sex alone does not equal love. Feelings need to be developed and explored, and I felt that was lacking here.
However, this is still an entertaining read and I did like it. I enjoyed the author's writing style, I enjoyed the dialog, the bickering, the love scenes, and the story-line. I feel justified giving this four stars despite the lack of depth I felt it had because it was entertaining, it had a lot of good things going for it, and it was a great way to spend an hour. I would recommend this as a fun way to pass the time.
This is well written book with good editing. Yes, I would have loved to know more about these two (three if you count Reece) and what made them who they are. But I also appreciate a short, sweet story that gives you just enough of what you need to be satisfied. I would not hesitate to read more from this author ... short story or full length novel.
Golden Opportunity is a cute, short book, more of chick lit type book. It's the first book I've read by Donna Marie Rogers. I see tons of potential in Mrs. Rogers writing style, it draws me, so much I've put another of her books in my Mount TBR.
What I love about Golden Opportunity:
James is a cowboy, he's definitely an alpha, he's caring and affectionate, but doesn't trust women. Angela is a strong young woman, she's had a rough life and decided to work hard to make her life better than the one she had while growing up. Although a bit naive, Angela takes no crap off of James, there are some cute "awww" moments in the book. I loved Meara, James' long time housekeeper/surrogate grandmother. I love how James fell so hard for Angela and he is quite a hot lover.
What didn't work as well for me:
James and Angela fall in love in two days, which is too quick for me, I wanted to see more of how the relationship develops between James and Angela, more fights, more luvin' (however it's a novella so I understand the need for quick). James forgave his brother Reese way to easy and quickly.
For a novella, the pacing is most likely acceptable, but some of you have seen me post before that I try to stay away from novellas because I always seem to be disappointed because I don't get to know the H/h like I want to and I don't get to witness that bond and relationship form that I need, so keep that in mind.
All this being said, I will be watching for James' brother, Reese's story. And hopefully in his book we will get to see more of Angela and James.
This is a great quick beach read or book you need to make you smile and give you a warm fuzzy feeling. AND it's a steal at only $.99 on amazon =)

James and Angela have a very hot love/hate thing going, so they are either wanting to strangle each other or rip each others clothes off as the sparks fly, which makes their characters very believable. It is well written which allows you to feel all the frustration, tension, lust and passion as James and Angela do. Reese and Paige are fantastic extra characters that instantly get your hackles up and you have to dislike them. Overall a good read, not amazing but good.
