They were too tight when I received them but expected the stiffness. However they were too stiff and tight to wear for more than hour without a lot of pain. I put shoe trees in them and set them aside. They sat that way for a year and probably would have stayed that way forever but I had to wear them last year so toughed it out. It was rough breaking them in but I walked all over town in them for at least 4 months, mostly during fall and winter. They, with a bit of polish, handled it quite well. They are easier, less painful, to wear now but still cause pain after a few hours.
I have never worn EE before but it seems that EE is not what it used to be. D, as in a, b, c, D, is the widest I have ever worn. I wore 12-B for years in dress shoes but D in boots. These EE are not D; not sure if they are even C width but ithink they are. IOW, EE is MEDIUM width in these and for these boots, is too narrow.
I would buy them again if they had proper *U.S.A.* sizes but there is not even a beans chance in H! I would buy 2E('medium' in these) again and go thru all that pain to break them in. Since they do not carry 3E, it is Adios!
Opened the box and pulled out the boots. Leather was nice, almost an oily suede, leather welt, lots of good stitching. The boot was made very nicely from a visual point of view. Had a nice rubbery, gummy insole and the lace loops were of nice high quality. I was happy. Put it on and the right boot did not match the left in arch hight and shape, a big pressure point on the outside along the little toe bone next to the heal, but it wasn't as bad as some Carolina's that I bought earlier this year that were purely defective and I threw away. No, I decided to go with these and give them a chance. They were a little tight. I have a small foot. I have been a size 7 from Wally World for years with no problems but these were too tight. Either I am a 7.5 and Wally World sizes their boots wrong or these boots are off. I wore them for 3 days hoping they would stretch out but they wouldn't. Guess I shouldn't assume. The right boot was also narrow where the welt is sewn to the sole causing my foot to spread out way beyond the welt. I could feel the welt under my foot and added a feeling of instability and I had a hard time keeping my balance. It's almost as if they gave me a 6.5d instead of the 7ee that I ordered. Not so happy. I give 3 stars because this version/year of this model of boot was actually quite nice to look at. Hopefully you have a better experience than I.

Took a couple hours to break them in, but they are really nice boots! Some people might find the heel too high, but to me they are as comfortable as my Wellingtons!Published 15 months ago by Don G.
I liked the quality but the size was very small and very narrow. A double E size certainly should have fit but it was more like a C or possibly D.Published 20 months ago by Michelle
