Paul Allen Pearce is the author of many breed dog-training books. When his family duties allow, he spends his spare time outdoors with his two dogs Buck and Samson.
Paul’s family are dog lovers and often took in strays. Paul and his siblings were taught how to care and train the family pets and dogs. Both his parents grew up with many animals and had generational knowledge to pass forth to their offspring.
Being raised around all sorts of animals, his curiosity to work with animals grew. Upon returning back to the U.S. and purchasing his own dog he realized he didn’t know as much as he could, thus began his journey into owning and full time dog training.
Paul States - "Dog training is my passion. I love dogs, animals, and the wonders of nature. It is easy to write about your passion and share what you have learned and discovered.
I hope that my readers enjoy and learn from what I have learned and improve their dog relationships. My past explorations throughout twenty countries and states helped me to broaden my perspective regarding animal behavior and treatment. Let us all be kind to animals, not only dogs.
When I am not working, I spend my time outdoors with my dogs, exploring nature and expanding my knowledge of life, dogs and dog training."

Just picked up our baby Golden today and have been using this book as a guide for everything I need to know. I can easily go right to the item I need help with as well as reading a head of time for future milestones and how to get there. Very well written and even though I have raised and lost a Golden before, this ensures me I am doing everything to the best of my ability to raise a happy, healthy, Golden.
A decent overview for anyone starting anew with a puppy...just add love. There's a reason why men write these books. The Retriever is SO smart and wants to please you! I think we should look in the mirror and start the training there.
Very good basics. I have had 37 consecutive years of having a golden retriever. I needed some reminders for puppy basics since its been a while. Was helpful as I had forgotten with different personality goldenseal.
Truly regretful! Not well written; has ridiculously wide margins, as if the author needed to 'stretch' the book to make it seem like more than it really is; there are typos and errors in it; and even the table of contents is incorrect and doesn't correlate to where the info is really located in the book! (This is supposed to be a REFERENCE???) Was this written by a 7-yr old child???? Mine is in the garbage, where it belongs. It wasn't worth my time. (*Perhaps it might be better had they let the DOG write it.)
