A successful businessman, Dominic Russell knows what it takes to make innovative ideas related to computer games profitable. Though he is very wealthy, there are times when he does feel lonely and has started to ponder if it is time to consider being in a serious relationship. So far, none of the women whom Dominic has dated have him thinking long-term, yet there is someone who has grabbed his attention. Now he just has to introduce himself to her.
When Dominic goes to the restaurant where Eden Bell is a waitress, he luckily has an opportunity to talk with her. After she agrees to go out with him, he is eager to learn more about her. Since Eden has a young daughter, she wonders how he will react to this news. Surprisingly, this fact does not seem to bother him at all. But her decision to not disclose the whole truth may keep their relationship from growing into something more.
There are a multitude of emotions expressed in GOLDEN SAND, and these sentiments are conveyed through carefully thought-out scenes written by C.J. Miller. Eden is guarded when it comes to trusting other people because of past events, making it difficult for her to be completely honest at times. While I did not always concur with all of her actions, I could understand her reasoning and what drove her to be independent. When it comes to Dominic, I really felt for him as he also has a troubling prior history. As I watched these two work through any problems that cropped up, I was hoping for the best yet could not keep from feeling some apprehension over what might eventually happen. Secondary characters occasionally play a big part in the story, from Eden’s young daughter and her family members to Dominic’s relatives plus some good friends of both, and seeing how everyone reacted gave insight into personalities and even motivations. While this is the second book in the Ocean Sands series, it easily stands alone.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of the book, and all comments are my honest opinion
