Editorial Reviews

Titled after the dreams she had about the record cover being shiny gold, Golder represents Haley striving to become a better artist, growing with each song she writes. Recorded at Pachyderm studio (Nirvana, PJ Harvey) in Cannon Falls, MN, Haley and band went in knowing most of the songs in advance, but reconstructed them while in the studio. The songs themselves are largely a reflection of a wonderful and lonely year spent in Portland, Oregon. Haley recently returned to the Twin Cities in July 2010, became active once again in the amazing music scene (including the formation of a punk/new-wave side project Gramma s Boyfriend) and is set to get out on the road and play songs from Golder. Golder, is an evolution into something brighter, heavier, and stronger. All songs written by Haley Bonar / Copyright 2010 Spit Comet Music (BMI)

I can't stop listening. Candy Machine Gun, Anyway, Rattlesnake, Silver Zephyrs. These songs are great earworms. Bonar's one of the gems of the Minneapolis scene. Catch her live if you have the chance.

Haley Bonar is a true artist, whose singer-songwriter (& musicianship)talents are more than enough to make ANY of her albums worth buying. The other musicians on this album are far more than icing on the cake.

She is a very talented woman. A few of the catchier songs on this album are on the short side, but the album as a whole is very good start to finish.

Bonar's music scratches that itch. You know, Damn The Torpedoes [Blu-ray Audio w/ Bonus Download]. Or Reading Writing & Arithmetic. Lost Blues & Other Songs, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2008 2LP with CD) [Vinyl], and Marry Me. You'll fire your dermatologist.

She's sort of the Taylor Swift for moms, or the Joni Mitchell for punks, or something like that.

Although she may have been brought up on "insurgent" country, she is actually a smart sum of several present day trends I refuse to name. Mostly because I don't know what they are. She's a great songwriter. Her songs sound like they are happening now. And her voice is right there in the room with you, like a divine visitation, proving it is timeless. Like the tunes, you can't kick them out of your home once they get in. You'll be happy once they arrive.
