However, while I am have no doubts that Paul Chek has a deep knowledge of biomechanis in general i didn't come away with the impression that he has a deep knowledge of golf.
In particular I thought the first chapter describing gold biomechanics was weak. Essentially this is a 1999 book which has only been updated by the changing of some drawings into photographs, but the section on biomechanics should be updated to include the results of studies using 3D photography rather than relying on Hogans Five laws or the 1941 About Golf.
The warm up section also seems very weak and you can IMHO see netter warmup routines from TFI on Youtube.
I wasn't to warm about the strength training exercises which require a crossover machine, which if you don't go to the gym or have space at home are not really a practical proposition.
Having said that I think that his explanation of individual exercises is good but for the amateur hoping to improve his game Fix your body, fix your swing offers more comprehensive approach that you can use at home.
this book is not for someone looking for a quick tip or something
it contains a customizable workout regimen for a year, periodized training, testing to find faults, then specific exercises to fix them, and alot more
this guy is an exercise stud, and he practices what he preaches.
I got this book for xmas, and I immediatly ordered another copy for my dad, who is retired and getting more serious about golf.
this book will not teach you how to swing, but rather, how to develop your muscles, balance, and so on to be able to swing better.
again, great book, 5 stars...
