Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Readers have compared the McSwain & Beck series as Veronica Mars meets Alex Rider, with the action and writing style of James Patterson.

About the Author

CR HIATT writes action-oriented stories with strong female characters as the heroes. The daughter of a military veteran, CR grew up in a small town where she became an All-American athlete. CR knew early on that she wasn't cut out for the nine to five type of job - her tendency to day dream about adventures often got in the way. But, being the daughter of a Navy Veteran she also knew one had to do what was necessary to be secure, so she disciplined herself to push those dreams aside and settled on working in the entertainment legal field. When those dreams invaded her world once again, CR finally gave in and set out to write her own adventures. The journey started after CR interviewed big city detectives and talked with some of their victims. Those interviews introduced her to the horrific crime of human and sex trafficking, which was one of the crimes depicted in the first three books in the McSwain & Beck series. The novels are works of fiction, only based on real life events, but you can't help but wonder while reading the books which parts are true. When CR isn't writing, she enjoys renovating houses, spending time outdoors, catching up on her favorite books and TV shows, and playing with her Golden Retriever, Annabelle.

Gone at Zero Hundred Packs Some Major Torque! I was blown away by this complex, high-octane thriller. The non-stop action of this impeccable mystery made it impossible for me to stop reading. I was amused, enticed and engrossed with the sexy, sassy, smart-ass sleuths McSwain & Beck. They're intelligent, raw and realistic.

McSwain & Beck are drawn into a freakish murder-mystery, where they are compelled to uncover the truth at any cost. Their target is a sickening gang of relentless killers. They are placed in highly dangerous scenarios, cat and mouse chases, not to mention dealing with devilish drug dealers, who are so disgusting I wanted to light them on fire with a flamethrower and watch them burn.

CR Hiatt is an incredibly detailed writer. ALL the characters are thoroughly described down to each and every idiosyncrasy. I look forward to the second installment of the McSwain & Beck series and hope someone is smart enough to make this thrilling story into a movie. The author has an incredible gift of keeping the reader engaged. I highly recommend Gone at Zero Hundred. It's an entertaining read by an amazing author.

I read this book as part of a blog tour hosted by Reading Addiction Blog Tours for C.R. Hiatt. I first agreed to do it because I love a good mystery and adventure. This book did deliver such a story. This book kept the pace and was a quick read. The chapters are quick and not too long, making the story fly by. The mystery and plot was developed very well. A lot is going on, but the author does tie it up nicely at the end. However, she doesn't finish everything in the end as there is a follow up book.
Sydney and Cody are the main characters. They are great friends and work well together. Their personal interests combine very well throughout the story. Another character I did enjoy was Detective Carter. He was the comfort of the law enforcement side to the entire story. I enjoyed his character so much I hope we see him in the next book.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a great story. Plenty of action and suspense on every page. And a reminder...not everything is wrapped up because there is a second book to be published soon.

What a rollercoaster of a book!! I was GLUED to it!! The two main characters are thrown into a murder-mystery. The chapters are not too long, so it was an easy read. I was a bit skeptical, as it's listed as a YA book, but I was very happy with the content! Hence, don't judge a book by it's cover! So if YA isn't your cup of tea, but you like murder-mystery and lots of action, you just may want to give this book a try! I can't wait for the second book to come out. I may even have my teenage son read Gone at Zero Hundred.

The characters and the story line were very well thought out and really flowed with the book. This book would make an awesome movie! I can't wait to read more from C.R. Hiatt!!

Did you ever want to be transported away from the stress...the day-to-day...the mundane and just get kidnapped into a wonderful, wild, youthful world of sleuths and detectives and coming of age? If you answered yes to all of these questions, DO NOT HESITATE TO DOWNLOAD THIS AMAZING BOOK. I JUST DID! I read it everywhere...getting my car washed, getting my hair cut, getting my pedicure (I know, I'm a guy, but gals dig this)... I could not stop reading! And, what made it SO mesmerizing was Sydney! Her metamorphosis from a young tomboy girl under the tutelage of a single-strong mother, to the uprising of self-matured heroine is breathtaking, subtle and heartfelt. Bravo! The writing team of McSwain and Beck are responsible for this beautiful, touching transformation! Cody! Okay! He's hot, fiercely hot and the chemistry between the two as friends, best friends and the innocent trickle of `better' friends keeps the heart cursor blinking... maybe not in this book, but definelty...to be continued...HOT!! I loved it. So will you. Don't forget there is more than enough mystery and clues and mayhem to keep even the most ardent mystery reader's piqued interest...but it wouldn't be worth half the ride without these incredibly LOVABLE characters. Oh, and don't forget Carter! He deserves a heartfelt plug! Can't wait for the sequel!! 5 stars on my Richter scale! Now, I'm gone in less than sixty seconds...or I'll self-destruct!

Gone at Zero Hundred is a most unusual mystery/thriller as the investigators, "McSwain and Beck", are only eighteen years old. After Syd's mom is tragically killed Syd is forced to find a means of support and decides to do the only thing she knows how to do. Little does she know what perils await when she accepts her first assignment as a private investigator.

I admit I was a bit surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The story and characters were well developed and likable if somewhat improbable. Very entertaining and kept me reading straight through to the end. The story ends on a bit of a cliff hanger that leaves one guessing at the outcome. I look forward to the conclusion and to what mischief this unlikely pair of teen investigators will get up to next.

A fast read with non-stop action from beginning to end. Highly recommend.
