This DVD is spectacular, with its views of Alaska's ice glaciers, snow covered mountains and clear blue skies. John, Robby and Mike were so personable with the people of Alaska. Their honesty and down-to-earth personalities made it very enjoyable to watch. The best part, of course, was listening to John sing the Goo Goo Dolls most popular songs, like Black Balloon, Slide and the MOST awesome version of "Here is Gone". If you have DTS on your sound system, it will give you goosebumps. You don't have to be just a Goo fan to enjoy this DVD - it is awesome and worth getting!

I don't have much to add to other reviewers' comments, but I wanted to make my 5 stars count! :-)

I had been only a casual Goo Goo Dolls fan until I caught this video on UHD (DirecTV) in high-def. WOW! I was taken aback by the scenery, then the music and, to top it off - the guys themselves...they are so charming and funny, and soooo down to earth. My husband and I were so captivated, and now we own all of the GGD's CDs!

I lived in Alaska for almost nine years. To see the Goo Goo Dolls perfoming in the state of Alaska was incredible. Their music, with the backdrop of Alaska makes for one of the most awesome music DVD's available. If you are a GGD fan this is a must own DVD. The version of the song "Slide" is a must see. The Goo Goo Dolls are out on a chunk of glacier floating while singing the song. Simply Great!!!!!!

WHAT AN INTRIGUING IDEA OF COMBINING GORGEOUS SCENERY WITH PERFORMANCES BY A BAND & FILMING ALL OF IT, INCLUDING THE BAND & LOCAL PEOPLE TOGETHER! THIS WAS AWE-INSPIRING! IT'S THE DVD TO REACH FOR WHEN YOU NEED A LAUGH, OR A SMILE, OR JUST WANT TO FEEL GOOD.

THE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE IS SO CREATIVE AND BEAUTIFUL. THE BAND WAS SO WHOLLY "INTO" THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE, INCLUDING "MUD-SLIDING" WITH THE NATIVE ALASKAN KIDS! IT WAS A HOOT WATCHING JOHN & ROBBY MUDSLIDING & THEY LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE HAVING AS MUCH FUN, OR MORE, THAN THE KIDS!!!

I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW THEY GOT THE BAND MEMBERS ON THE GLACIERS TO PLAY "SLIDE" AND WON't RUIN IT (SO, NO SPOILER ALERT); IT'S SOMETHING THAT HAS TO BE SEEN TO BE BELIEVED!!!

I UNDERSTAND WHY A NUMBER OF REVIEWERS RECOMMEND IT WHETHER OR NOT YOU'RE A GOO GOO DOLLS' FAN...YOU CAN STILL ENJOY IT FOR THE SPECTACUILAR SCENERY. BUT, I FEEL IF YOU GET IT, YOU CAN'T HELP BUT BECOME A GOO GOO DOLLS FAN!!!

ONE OF THE MOST FABULOUS MUSIC (& SCENIC) DVD'S I'VE EVER SEEN!!!!! I GREATLY & IMMENSELY RECOMMEND IT TO ALL. IT'S "MAGNETIC" (TO BORROW THEIR NEWEST TITLE!)!!!

If you love Goo and you have a collection of more than 3 of their albums, and or like the LLI or DUTG eras then this is very much for you. The dvd doesn't have a lot of their music on it, and not a lot of personal or insightful info about the band, but is more of a video of their trip to Alaska and watches almost like a documentary. The settings they play in are gorgeous and that is offset by explanations of carrying equipment to these places and performing there. There are some quirky and funny band shots of them joking and messing around, hanging with the locals and just enjoying their time. It's a great video, the mountains, streams and glaciers are breathtaking and NatGeo-esque, and paired with Johnny's amazing voice and beautiful music. It's a real winner.

I've been a Goo Goo Dolls fan for a while now, so when I heard on the radio that they had a DVD, I quickly bought a copy. Out of any place in the world, Alaska seemed to be the perfect place for The Goo Goo Dolls to play. From mud-sliding, to the tear-jerking rendition of "Acoustic #3" on a block of lonely ice, this movie gives you a very good idea of the depth the band members have. They are so humble and honest, and that's a great trait to have in an industry such as this.
I'm glad that they added "You Never Know" to the extras on the DVD. I love this song and love seeing Robby Takac perform with his undeniable energy, despite what people think of his raspy voice, and rock style. You can definately still feel their punk-rock days shine through his songs.
I'm also happy to see "Sympathy" as well. I think the mandolin, and the subtle guitar strumming, brings the relatable lyrics to life. I don't think "Sympathy" could have been written any other way.
I would recommend this DVD to anyone who is a fan of this band, or anyone who liked them during the Dizzy Up The Girl era.

I watched this on YouTube and I had to get the DVD. Goo Goo Dolls + Alaska + Music = Awesome! Features acoustic versions of songs from their albums "Dizzy Up The Girl" and "Gutterflower". They're from Buffalo, New York which is a city near Canada where the landscape is very similar to that of Alaska. Anyone who hasn't been to Alaska can see how pretty it is there throughout this musical documentary. I'm sure the Goo Goo Dolls didn't leave Alaska without writing a song about being in Alaska!

I saw this first on TV and then direct TV so I could not wait to own my own crystal clear copy. This DVD is amazing and exciting for Goo fans. It is about the only "real" DVD we can purchase of them. It not only shows their amazing music but how much fun they are. I mean mudsliding with the local kids? Not all stars would do this and it was quite the site. Very funny!! The scenery of Alaska is beautiful and seeing this also made me think about it as a vacation spot. Johnny, Robby, and Mike, are in rare form in this video and their beautiful music is captured perfectly with the beautiful back drop of scenic Alaska. A MUST HAVE DVD!! LOVE IT!!
