A must by if you love beer and you're going to Belgium

Even if you aren't going to belgium, you'll probably want to after reading this. Been reading a bunch of guide books like crazy, and researching online, but this has to be the best guide book I have read yet. I don't know if it is because they have such a specific topic but this book was really easy to read, and extremely easy to understand. I have yet to go to Belgium and check the accuracy of the information, but seems really informative and a great read. The authors write in a great voice and are very knowledgable. I'm a home brewer and love beer, but learned a lot from this book and this really helped finalize the itinerary for my trip to Belgium which is coming up soon. I've just been borrowing books from the library, so I was hesitant on purchasing this book for $20+, but it was very worth it.

Content dense. I'm going to Belgium in April and it is my main reference. Several re-reads will be required to absorb what I think I need to know to have a great beer vacation.

The authors are very knowledgeable but have their own biases. They favor emerging beer concepts over traditional styles. I think the experience will be fine as long as I keep that in mind.

Composed by a couple of English blokes who take great pride in putting their own personal and decidedly biased preferences on full display. Despite the authors' apparent obsession with all-things-Lambic (which represents an extremely small fraction of the Belgian beer style spectrum), they do succeed in at least providing a fairly comprehensive listing of the various breweries, brewpubs, cafes and beer-themed restaurants extant in Belgium as of this 7th edition (2014) publication. I suspect that as of my reading this tome in 2022, many of the noted establishments have been negatively affected, to various degrees, by the pandemic of the last 2 years (and counting). Nonetheless, for one planning a beer tour of that great country, this compendium can provide a useful starting point for developing a viable itinerary, updated and verified, of course, by contemporaneous research using more up-to-date media resources. I would also note, probably to the authors' likely dismay (they take the opportunity to somehow find fault with Michael Jackson's own published insights specific to the world of Belgian brews), that one will find a much more thorough and balanced reference in the latter's Great Beers of Belgium publication, even considering that it's last update was in 2008, shortly after the author's untimely death. Still, this guide is useful and should be considered as an integral element of planning for a beer-themed journey through Belgium.

If you like good beer you will love Belgium and you will love this book...! This 2014 edition is the 7th and this edition sees editor Tim Webb, at the helm since the first edition, team up with Joe Stange, co-editor of Around Brussels in 80 Bars. The Good Beer Guide gives you so much more than just a list of. Belgian beers, it gives a detailed account of the country, it's history, areas, geography, people and more - but the information on the bars, cafés, beers and breweries in the best beer producing country in the world is absolutely first class. The guide is split into sections covering the breweries and beers and also lists bars/cafés in the various regions in Belgium that sell a range of 'class' Belgian beers, the selection is selective and will point any beer hunter in the right direction to find Belgium's Best Bars. The descriptions are informative and interesting and quite often quirky and amusing, all meticulously researched. All in all, a wonderful book, a travel guide, pub guide, beer guide and an invaluable guide for anyone wanting to visit this somewhat understated and perhaps even under estimated country. If you want to drink some of the best beers in the world and drink in the best places in the world to drink them, then buy the Good Beer Guide to Belgium. It gets better with every edition - I particularly like the many cafe bar interior photos in this edition. Go there, take this guide and Enjoy!
