I love that these recipes are ones that I can actually make and that at my family enjoys. Thanks, Jessica, for creating real food!

The Grilled Mahi-Mahi with Pineapple Salsa is a slam dunk in my house, as are the Chicken Fajita Bake and Hands-Free Cashew Chicken (I'm all about easy!). The Apple Crowns with Maple Whipped Cream are a delicious after-school snack.

This cookbook is perfect for my traditional, meat and potatoes eating husband and my more adventurous kids. I Like that she has the traditional stuff in a healthier, easy-to-make format without losing the flavor, as well as some great new dishes to try.

I love your cookbooks, Jessica-- please keep them coming!

What a lovely cookbook! First and foremost, for me, a cookbook has to *look* delicious. A cookbook without pictures is like a vacation with no photos...I need proof of deliciousness! And the pictures in Ms. Fisher's book are scrumptious. There are so many colors, textures, and flavors that literally jump off the page; it's a tempting endeavor just to thumb through this book.

The recipes themselves are wonderful! I've had the book for just over a week, and I've cooked from it five times. The Biscuit Pizza with Sausage and Peppers (p. 146) made me a hero in my household, and it was so easy to prepare. The biscuit crust makes it seem like you've slaved for hours, but it's really a quick prep. The accompanying Marinated Olive and Tomato Salad (p. 148) was really delicious. Don't miss the great spice mix recipes included in this book; Jamie's Spice Mix and FishMama Spice will save you money and up the "wow factor" in your meals.

The Chicken Tikka Masala (p. 251) is out-of-this-world phenomenal. I've tried for years to replicated Indian fare at home, and the techniques and time savings on this dish make it a winner. My husband literally wept over this dish, it's that delicious. The accompanying Coconut Rice is so full of flavor, it won raves from everyone in our house.

One of my favorite parts of this book is the pairings. The menus are pulled together in two-item increments. It's a realistic amount of cooking for 30 minutes, and I'm not killing myself to have a main and five side dishes. Simplicity rules. And when you've got great flavor and plenty of healthy ingredients, you really don't need to work so hard! (As my mother likes to say, "Work smarter, not harder.

Well-written & thought out recipes that are delicious, too. I have had the book for only 2 days, and I have made 4 recipes & they all turned out great. I like the fact that each recipe is coded with important info: For example, Meatless, Gluten Free, etc. The photos help too, since I am a pretty visual person & the photography is very nicely done. This is not super fancy food, and that is exactly what I was looking for when I ordered the book. Every single ingredient can be bought in any grocery store throughout America. Highly recommended!

I'm a big fan of Jessica Fisher's two previous cookbooks, Good Cheap Eats and Not Your Mother's Make Ahead & Freeze Cookbook, and this new book is filled with just as many tasty, easy, affordable meals. Perhaps what I enjoy the most are the tips and suggestions that the author includes throughout. Easy tabs at the top of each recipe tell you whether it's suitable to make ahead, freeze, or make gluten-free. As a mom of a busy toddler (with a new baby arriving soon), this collection of recipes has been and will continue to be a dinner-saver for me!

Another unique feature of this book is that every main recipe is paired with a simple side. I am always lacking inspiration in this department, and have already tried several suggestions (for instance, the quick and fresh blue cheese dip served with crudités during our regular Friday night pizza night had my toddler eating cucumbers!).

Another bonus is the free content that the author provides over on her website, lifeasmom.com.... She has both a freezer meal plan and a month of meals plan to compliment and make the most of this new book. Love it!

Keep the fresh, affordable and inspiring cookbooks coming, please!

These are the things I like about this book, pictures, fresh ingredients, menu idea's, great recipes in all categories, and easy to use. There are recipes that will help me to get out of my rut of cooking the same old things. The reason I bought it really was the title but once I opened it and looked through some of the book I realized that there is so much more here than just recipes. I bought one for each of my daughter's/in-laws and I trust they will enjoy this as much as I will for many years to come.

There's a lot to like about this cookbook. With 100 menus consisting of 2 recipes each, it really does have something for every taste. And it's true to the title: every recipe pair that I've made so far came together in under 30 minutes, including the requisite prep work.

What I really like is that there is minimal use of highly-processed components (canned soup, for example) which is generally the rule in other "quick fix" recipe collections. Most of these recipes use fresh ingredients, and their simplicity (fewer ingredients) is what keeps the time in the kitchen to a minimum.

As is my practice with every cookbook I review, I chose 3 selections to try based mostly on what I had on hand in the pantry or freezer. Since this book is based on the idea of 30-minute meal preparation, I chose to prepare both recipes in each of 3 menu choices.

First up: Roast Beef and Cheddar Salad. A good basic "dinner"-type salad with some meat, salad greens (romaine lettuce in this case), tomatoes, scallions, and garbanzos (in this case, canned), with a nice basic dressing with red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, olive oil, topped with a healthy sprinkling of cheddar cheese. This is paired with Tomato-Olive Muffins -- made from scratch, with prepared pesto, chopped black olives and chopped sundried tomatoes. The salad was fairly standard -- not too special, but good -- but the muffins were EXCELLENT! You put together the muffins first, and while they're baking, assemble the salad. This made a VERY nice meal, and I'll definitely be making the muffins again for sure.

Next: Chicken Sauté with Mushrooms and Spinach paired with Honeyed Carrots. For this meal, I started the carrots first, then got to work on the chicken dish.
