Also unlike most books in this category; this goes beyond edible recipes; taking the same edible ingredients and creating beauty items such as bath soaks, hair and face masks; and they are all incredibly easy to make.
The book begins as many do, with the authors food philosophy, followed by a guide to kitchen and pantry essentials and some basic how to tips. The recipes are divided into different chapters rather than breakfast / lunch / dinner though it does behind with morning ideas under " awaken " followed by nourish , detox, restore , sustain and savor - the latter is dessert type items.
Everyone has their own thing they are looking for out of a book and for me I was excited to see all the different bowl recipes from smoothies to power bowls; and I loved the fact that there is a guide to making seasonal bowls with chickpeas , lentils, in season plants and recipes for a variety of dressings! So simple and quick.
The book calls for many easily found ingredients which I love and things are quick and simple to prepare which is what I need. The same goes for the beauty recipes - the coconut coffee body scrub took seconds to make ( but do beware it's messy when used and clean up on the bathroom takes a tad longer )
The super green smoothie is delicious and had a surprising kick due to the ginger and I tried the immune boosting shot which was a variation of one that I normally make albeit with oregano and black pepper ! My kids enjoyed the mint chip shake unaware that it included spinach and avocado. Though I have made simple dishes so far, it's all been easy to do.
Finally the pictures - they are beautiful, clean and enough to inspire the most reluctant of cooks. If you have a busy, crazy life - want to eat clean without hours in the kitchen or store -and want to eat fresh and light; then this book fits the bill far more than any other I have read. A new go to!!
Back to Basics:
This is an incredibly useful section showing you how to cook the basics.
Beans, lentils and grains.
Vegetables roasted and steamed.
Plus caul-rice, veggie noodles, dressings, salsa and pesto and crunch.
Build your own bowl ideas plus recipes for summer, spring, fall and winter bowls.
Plant based milks.
Basic veggie broth and more.
This starts with morning rituals including oil pulling.
Now one of my daughters swears by this and the first time she had me try it was just with coconut oil and it didn't go well let me assure you the peppermint is essential although it's something I'm still not comfortable doing.
This is followed by several recipes and a lovely coconut coffee body scrub.
Smoothies, pancakes, breakfast bowls, flatbread, spaghetti and mushroom meatballs, and an interesting looking zucchini lasagne.

Bowls, soups, red lentil earth curry etc

Like I said this is a fabulous book, there's some lovely food recipes the first ones I'm going to try are these:
Falafel Bowl with Mediterranean Millet and Green Tahini
Spaghetti with mushroom meatballs
Pesto Zucchini Noodles
But for me the highlight was the body scrub and the hair treatment.
