I bought The Good Creative in early June, just after it was released. I have it as a Kindle book and also ordered the hard copy, just to get familiar with Create Space. Paul was so kind to email a link to the audio version as well.
I highly recommend if you need a creative jumpstart or just a bit of creative nourishment.
In real life, I'm an engineer. I also have an artistic side, leaning towards Steampunk-inspired gadgetry. I've done work for various Steampunk artists before, mostly enabling technologies that add some pizzazz to their work, but never felt that my own work was worth putting out there. This book has made me re-think that notion. And hey, I might be wrong, but I'm all jazzed up and I'm going to go for it anyway. And in the meantime, I'm going to download some of his other books....
My favorite quote from the book is "Embrace the opportunity to earn money from your art, because it is damn hard to do." Amen, and amen. But we have to keep trying.
The Good Creative’s best quality is its length. I’m not a fast reader and it took me about an hour and twenty minutes to finish. Each chapter is about 1.5 pages in length and reads more like a series of blog posts than chapters. The book outlines 18 thought-provoking habits and gives engaging examples of real-life success.
If you are a creative person of any trade looking to go further with your craft, read The Good Creative. It will challenge the way you think and (hopefully) help you recognize the blunders that are keeping you from getting to the next level.
I want to give this book away to all my creative friends when Christmas rolls around, what a beautiful cover!
The Good Creative is a fast read filled with lots of gold nuggets of information.
You won't regret your purchase - it was a pure delight to read and it inspired me in unexpected and awesome ways.
Buy this book, read this book and then buy everything else Paul Jarvis has to offer.
