The Good Earth Lighting Under Cabinet Light is the perfect way to light cabinets, kitchen counters, work stations, or any other area of the home. This compact, lightweight fixture plugs into a standard outlet, making it an excellent option for spaces where direct wiring is not available, and a 60-inch power cord allows your light to be placed far from the power source. The 3000K color temperature from the included 13-watt fluorescent light bulb casts a soft but ample brightness. In addition, the bulb's 10,000 hour rated lamp provides long-lasting normal use. With a clean-looking, all-white construction, the Good Earth Lighting Under Cabinet Fixture blends with its surroundings. This item measures 22"L x 1.65"W x 1.1"H and carries a limited 1-year parts warranty.

I ordered one of these for a stereo cabinet and showed it to the wife who immediately requested two more for the kitchen and her sewing area. Mounting consists of two clips held by a single screw in each, and which will clip anywhere along the body of the light, making mounting simple. The clips are not designed for easy removal, they must be pried loose. This makes mounting secure, but may complicate bulb replacement a bit. There is a rocker switch at the cord end which is easy enough to find by feel when the unit is mounted under an overhang. The fixture is barely larger than the fluorescent tube itself, which allowed me to mount it on the back of the cabinet trim so that it illuminated the electronic gear without shining in my eyes. I had been looking at LED lights, but this was much less expensive for the light output and still uses a lot less power than the incandescent mini-spots that I had in the cabinet before. If the manufacturer would just forgo the clam shell packaging, these would be close to perfect.

Update: I finally installed this, and about the tenth time I turned it on, there was a flash and now it's deal. This was after I bought a cool white bulb to replace the yellow bulb it came with with, and spent $4 more for mounting hardware at Home Depot. A complete waste of money.

The light from this lamp is not "warm white", it's a sickly yellow. I'm not sure when the bulb and lamp manufacturers decided that the public was yearning for the candle light of the 1800s, but that seems to be the goal. Basically, with this type of bulb, you can't have enough wattage to be able see fine detail clearly.

Fortunately, I was expecting some version of this problem and also ordered a replacement "cool white" bulb. It won't be a "natural sunlight" bulb, but at least you will be able to see what it illuminates.

The other problem is the mounting. It obviously is meant to screw to the bottom of wood cabinets with the clips and wood screws provided. Unfortunately, my computer desk is not wood. so I now have a problem with the mounting.

For me, this has turned into more trouble than it's worth, but your mileage may vary.

Got these for under our kitchen cabinets. They are super easy to install - two screws for two brackets that the light snaps into, which don't have to be meticulously spaced. Just anywhere along the length of the tube is fine. I loved that the light came with an enclosure to cover the bulb tube - a real bargain, even if it's just thin plastic. What I don't like is that the connectors for the power cord are very loose. Half the time, I have to wiggle the cord after I turn on the light to get it to come on. Also, when you link these, you have to turn each light on individually. It doesn't work to just turn on and off the first one in the chain. This is both a plus and a con at the same time. We will eventually replace these, but for now, they are working well enough and are plenty of bright.

I am in agreement with the reviewer who said the plug is loose. It really is, can't mess around with on/off switch, plug loosens and light goes out. Also in agreement with reviewer who talked about brackets being hard to remove. Foolishly, I turned the light on and just held it under the kitchen cabinet where it was to be installed. After installing, I found the light glaring in my eyes. Through much hassle (and cussing!), I finally got the brackets removed, pulled them back in shape and re-installed further back. It's a nice light, but I find it much too white and bright for me, now looking around for something softer and not so glaring.

My fixture arrived today and installed 10 minutes later. Having owned many fixtures like this and a huge number of T8 fixtures in my business, I knew from the start to order a T5 bulb with a higher color temp. For me, 6500k or daylight will suit my needs over a small counter where I use a Vita-Mix and cutting board.

People don't seem to get the fact that the bulb in this fixture is likely the lowest temp, thus yellowish.
For only 3-4 bucks you can solve the problem with a little knowledge. Match the number for the bulb (F13T5 13watt 20 inch) and choose something in the middle or high color range. There are a few right here on Amazon that work.

The case and plugs are good quality for such a low price. I see this exact fixture at local big stores for 30-40 bucks.
It remains to be seen how long the electronic ballast will last, but the design is clean and it's easy to install.

We bought this to put under the counter which is over the kitchen sink. We have a plug in the cabinet so it worked out well for us. It has a very easy "clip" attachment system that only requires 2 screws. The light is a nice white color, bright enough for our need of washing dishes, but not overwhelming. We also use it as a kitchen "night light" so it has been on 24 hrs a day for a couple months with no problem. I like that it replaces a 3-bulb halogen unit that was using 75 watts instead of the 13 this uses with nearly identical brightness.

For me, it is definitely not bright enough for a workbench, even with two more. I am glad that I just ordered one to try.
