Haley has grown used to city life, but goes back to her hometown when her uncle passes. He has left her the use of his three-story mansion if she'll stay and run his company. She encounters Aaron, a boy she's known all of her life and discovers all the locals know how much he cares for her, even if she doesn't. She's been too caught up in city life and the hustle and bustle of it all to take the time to see people from her past or even to see what is right in front of her eyes. She's taken beauty for granted as well as people, and Haley realizes she's shortchanged herself in more ways than one. When Aaron's mother Brenda is hospitalized with a heart condition, the full impact of how she's thought only of herself and been so selfish hits her. She regrets not being their when her uncle passed. At first, it surprised her to see how the locals thought she was so shallow when she returned, but she suddenly sees herself as they must. She realizes she loves Aaron, but even he has called her shallow. Will she ever be good enough for him and will he ever see her as a caring, compassionate person? He asks her to go see the sun rise with him and his dog, Leo. Dare she let hope rise even as the sun does? Is it too late for what they might have had together, or can they find the love they once had for each other with God's help and direction? This story holds your attention from the first page until the last, and I read it in one day because I couldn't stop reading. It is a Christian story that offers hope, one in which people will find parts they can relate to and realize the sun can rise again, full of beauty and hope with good faith. I highly recommend this book!
