Josephine Hale, a woman who has bucked society's rules, has no desire for a man or husband and seeks only three things. One clear the name of her grandfather who was unjustly accused of murder, find the pirates treasure and then live a life where no man can rule over her. In a time where a lady's role is to marry well and serve her husband she is clearly living in the wrong era.
Her only hope comes when she must reluctantly join forces with Stephan to find the treasure. If successful than both parties will achieve what they want. What neither counts on is the desire that they both share for each other that once ignited will only grow to consume them both.
Enjoyed this book from the first page to the last and while I had fallen for Lord Valentine in her first book, Stephan clearly knocks him off the shelf with his rakish ways, honorable intentions and incredible wit. Well done Shana, look forward to the next in the series.
While I did find some errors in the book I easily overlooked them. As a fellow writer I understand the difficulty in editing. I have yet to come across any books that can't be marked up with a red pencil. To me what matters most is the storyline, the development of the characters and the authors ability to take me away and get me lost within her pages, this Shana has done with great success.
Secondly, this is the most immature heroine I have read about outside of the YA genre. I liked the story, but I wanted to shake the heroine many times during the story. Honestly, she didn't deserve the hero.
Thank You Shana Galen for an enjoyable book to read.
I thought Catherine's story was great, so had high expectations for this book, and definitely felt let down after I finished it. Overall, not her best.
