About the Brand

Kraft has come a long way since 29-year-old James L. Kraft moved from Ontario, canada, to Chicago and started selling cheese to grocers from a horse-drawn wagon. In fact, the story dates back further, since for more than 200 years, many companies have united to make Kraft Foods what it is today. It started before the Revolution--in Dorchester, Massachusetts--when, in 1765, a local physician, Dr. James Baker, went into partnership with a young Irish chocolate-maker, John Hannon. It was America's first chocolate mill, where, in 1780, they made a blend of quality chocolate called Baker's chocolate. Baker's chocolate was the first of a long list of companies that have joined Kraft Foods, Inc., in making good food for busy families.

In 1988, Kraft became part of Philip Morris Companies Inc., and a year later Philip Morris Companies combined Kraft and General Foods Corp. to form Kraft General Foods, the largest food company in the U.S. Some of the most popular and well-known brands in the Kraft family include Maxwell House, Yuban, Oscar Mayer, Breakstone, Grape-Nuts, Jell-O, Post, Minute Rice, Cheez Whiz, Cracker Barrell, Tang, Cool Whip, Shake 'N Bake, Stove Top, General Foods International Coffees, and many, many more.

Good Seasons Italian dressing is one of the most versatile spices in my rack. I don't only use it as a salad dressing (though it makes an excellent one), but it's also a lovely topping to toss fresh or steamed vegetables in to add a little bit of flavor. Also, typically when I am making it into a sald dressing I use extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar for a tasty vinaigrette that's great on any salad. There are also usually a number of recipes on any packet you buy giving you a number of new ideas for using this versatile flavoring.

I am currently living in Hungary and I have yet to find Italian dressing in a store. There may be specialty stores that import it, but then it would cost an arm and a leg. Shipping stuff here from the US is also prohibitively expensive and so mix packets are the best way to go. When I have friends coming out, they can pack it in a suit case without killing their weight allowance.

The family loves it and I enjoy having a little control over exactly how the dressing will taste by being able to make changes in type of vinegar. It's very good and the whole family likes it.

This is an old classic. You can keep it in the cupboard and all that you need on hand to make it is vinegar and oil. I use a mix of extra virgin olive oil and canola oil. I use a good vinegar: apple cider or grape (wine-white) vinegar. You could use balsamic, red wine, white wine or rice vinegar. Whatever suits your taste. I add a little more oil than the recipe calls for because it cuts some of the saltiness that may too much for some. Turns out just perfect.
It can be used for other recipes, too. I use it for pasta salads.
Great stuff!

My grandma was an amazing cook. She passed on many of her secrets, and this was one of them. Not only do we use this this as a versatile salad dressing (mix it with different citrus juices or vinegars and oils for a variety of great flavors) but we add it to spaghetti sauce, coat chicken with it before baking, mix it in with rice, add it to bread dough, and more. It's a great all-around seasoning mix that you can use to punch up the flavor in just about anything and make it even more savory.

The only Italian salad dressing I buy. I never buy the bottle stuff and it's usually too much oil or a type of oil I don't care for. With the dry mix you can add as much or little oil, vinegar, other spices like celery that you like.

Besides the excellent salad dressing you can mix up, controling the type and amount of oil used -- this is an excellent add-in for turkey burgers, giving them a richer flavor.

Good Seasons is a tried-and-true product that's been around for years. If you've never used it, you'll be amazed at it's wonderful flavor and the versatility of uses that can make lots of foods extra-special.

I ORDERED 24 .6 OZ PACKETS OF ZESTY ITALIAN DRESSING. INSTEAD, I RECEIVED TWO PREPARATION BOTTLES AND 4 PACKETS OF REGULAR ITALIAN DRESSING.

The order was corrected immediately following a conversation with Amazon. I was very pleased with the prompt response. This has been the manner in which a few errors have been handled in my long history as an Amazon shopper.

My mom has used this dressing since I was a kid (I am 40), it is still the only purchased dressing that we use in our house. I don't know anybody who tastes it and does not like it.

It is one of my 'secret' sub sandwich ingredients too.
