**UPDATE 2017**A Christmas favorite

I love these lights! They were one of fav when I was young and have returned! Every one enjoyed the lights and wants me to order them for 2014 xmas.
If you're not sure how many to order, this might help.
Our tree this year was 5ft, going for that Charlie Brown Christmas tree look, and 2 strings worked perfectly. If the tree was bigger I would have needed more lights.
Order replacements bulbs with them. You may not need them but I know other reviewers and myself both received a box where one was cracked.

***Update***
2017 and not impressed with the company. I loved the Christmas lights. I bought replacement bulbs, which is needed, if you want to keep using them and they the whole thing lasted for some Christmas now. I don't suggest they be your only lights though, which was my mistake. Expect bulbs to be broken every year, but that didn't bother me. I loved the lights. What bothered me was getting more lights. I want strands not replacements bulbs. So is that it for me? Two is the max for me? I'm annoyed, because you have a company that sells Christmas lights and they always run out of Christmas lights way before Christmas comes. I have given up. So if you are going to order, order if it was your last. You're not going to get this on ebay or anywhere else. The company just doesn't make enough. One site even sold them for $50, so buyer beware, yet they sold out! It is important to order replacement bulbs with these lights. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Nice but be aware of heat and exposed extension plug

Those do quite a good job at illuminating my window for Christmas in a nice choice of colors. I like that you can put several strips together (but make sure to check what is the maximum as too many is hazardous). They are the perfect size (quite big for Christmas lights) and you can replace them if one blows up (not so much with the usual tiny LED lights which require you to do it the hard way with solder).

These will heat up, as typical between 150 °F (60 °C) and 250 °F (120 °C) for incandescent bulbs like these, which is safe near paper and other materials, but you want to unplug them and let them cool down before handling them.
First bulb is a bit too close to the power plug for my taste, but that's helpful when you want to wire two sets in series.

Make sure to use electrical tape at the end of the strip if used outside, as the high voltage female plug (to wire another set) is exposed to the elements.

I love the warm light from these old style bulbs. Provides a nice warm festive glow. They do not last as long as some of the new LED options but they last a decent amount of time and it is easy enough to swap out bulbs and fuses to keep them going longer. They do get a bit warm so I am careful about placing them safely for my own peace of mind.The warmth from this style of bulb is very soothing though and well worth the upkeep (I use them for patio and for kitchen 'mood' lighting when company is over.

These lights were exactly what I expected. They are the old style Christmas lights that you cannot get in stores anymore. They give off a warm light as opposed to the harsh light of the new LED versions. I would recommend getting replacement bulbs too; the bulbs are fragile and the set does not come with any replacements.
