Goodbye to the Age of Steam is Big Big Train's first album, originally released in 1994 on the GEP label. Goodbye to the Age of Steam has been unavailable for many years and is being re-issued on 18th April 2011.

To ensure the best possible audio quality, Goodbye to the Age of Steam has been re-mixed by Rob Aubrey from the original master-tapes. The re-issue includes new artwork and a 12-page booklet with lyrics and sleeve-notes. The re-issue also features three bonus tracks; an extended version of 'Losing Your Way', a previously unreleased track called 'Far Distant Thing' (taken from a 1993 radio session), and 'Expecting Dragons', a recording by the current BBT line-up which re-works some of the musical themes from Goodbye to the Age of Steam.

Big Big Train is a super-talented and unique prog band from England. One can hear influences of many of the greats that preceded them , but BBT takes those influences and makes them their own.
Pick up ANY of their available recordings , and I bet you too will be adding all available release to your collection!
Intelligent lyrics , superb musicianship---A GREAT LISTEN!!!

This is another great CD from Big Big Train. All releases have moments of brilliance and superb melodies. The English Electric 1 & 2 elevate the past releases and almost achieve a complete prog epic.

Big Big Train is a wonderful band and Goodbye to the Age of Steam is a testament to their continuation as such. I haven't actually received this album yet, but I've listened to the entire thing on Spotify several times and love it. So much so that I wanted to contribute more directly and buy the thing. A great addition to my collection it will soon be!
