While I wish I had this Reference Cheat Sheet from i30 Media prior to my engaging in this position, this quick little guide is perfect for helping me to brush up on my spreadsheet skills (which are admittedly still weak) and have the ability to create something that is very functional and usable in my job position.
First off, the How To section on the first page is great for finding reminders on the basics of using Google Sheets. It has a nice, easy to understand diagram to familiarize yourself with the main Google Sheets window and also covers the following topics,
- How to create a new spreadsheet in Sheets
- How to rename an open spreadsheet
- How to save, close, or copy a spreadsheet
- How to edit spreadsheets while offline
- How to edit Excel spreadsheets while offline
- How to import/export .xls, .xlsx, .csv, .tsv, and .txt files
On the inside, you will find a handy section that covers the essentials of Google Sheets; Formatting, Functions, and Formulas. They have even provided great Example sections at the bottom of each of the inside pages, just so you can get a visual feel for the instructions that they are communicating.
When you get to the last page of this guide on the back, you will find a Keyboard Shortcut section that will give you quick shortcuts to utilize the functions of Google Sheets without the need to click on the functions through the menus. I’m a huge fan of keyboard shortcuts for daily use, as it really does help you get things done in a shorter time frame than you would be able to do otherwise.
Just as if you were using Excel, this basic 4-page (front & back) document is meant to be a “Cheat Sheet” and will not give you a full walk through of every feature in Google Sheets. But it is the perfect size to keep in your 3-ring binder in your office bookcase to reference, should you get a little rusty and find the need to utilize Google Sheets. You can tell the company put great thought into this product and has produced a handy guide that most people will find useful, which I can really appreciate!
