And as a side note, you must order this set from Amazon...my local bookstore did not have any of these books. I paid around $9 for the set of 3 books and this is a great price for a hardback book. I will be tracking down more Gooney Bird books for my daughter and for my classroom!
PS: Reader of Gooney Bird Greene might also like the Lulu books by Judith Viorst. They are all good beginners' chapter books with captivating storylines.
Gooney Bird Greene is a wonderful story that lends itself to teaching story writing and generating ideas. The kid began to figure out the play on words and fell in love with the main character.
